Panthers should have traded for him last season from the Jags. Minshew is 5x better than Darnold and WAY cheaper. Dude has gotten a bum rap despite being a decent QB.

The Panthers called the Eagles about Gardner Minshew last year before signing Cam Newton when Darnold was hurt. Minshew is not the long-term answer. But he’s young (26 in May), inexpensive ($2.54 million cap number) and has ties to the Panthers (offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo was with him in Jacksonville) and the Carolinas (ECU was one of three schools he played for).

Minshew has put up some solid numbers, plays with a flair and would bring some juice to the quarterback room It’s not an ideal scenario — and it all but stamps Rhule as a lame duck — but it’s where the Panthers find themselves again. Time for Tepper to change things up.

Both are better than Darnold who has never even had a winning season. I don't love those choices but I'd take Baker on a rookie contract for a 1 season tryout over Darnold again.
