Chalie Weis/ Jimmy Clausen package?

Weis as an OC likely only happens if Fox remains head coach, and even then it's no lock.

Truthfully, this is about the only scenario I know right now that makes me want to keep Fox.

I really dont think our OC is the problem. Fox's idea of a Offense is.

I like Clausen, but he will likely be a top five pick, so there is no way we would have the juice to get him. And even if we had kept our own pick, I don't think it will be in his range.

Nearly every mock draft I've seen has him being taken #1 overall by Cleveland(yes I know they might not have the first pick, but that is what it's looking like right now).

There is pretty much no chance for us to trade to get him, because there are several teams with terrible records in need of QB. You've got the Rams, Cleveland, Redskins, Bills, 49ers, Raiders(depending on how bruce does), Jags will probably take The Golden Calf of Bristol, Seattle might take a QB since Hasslebeck has proven to still be an injury machine.. hell, even the Vikings will most likely select a QB even if Favre doesn't retire, they're going to need one eventually.

I think the only chance we have of trading up far enough to select one of the top QB's would be a peppers + 2011 picks package, including maybe this years 2nd/3rd rounder.

It's not going to be easy. Very excited to see what goes down this off season.

In Notre Dame, Weis' offense was never a problem, it was his lack of defense. With that in mind, if Weis became part of Carolina staff, I wouldn't complain.

I am not sold on any coordinators from NE. If there had been a drop in the team maybe, so I am not buying it. There doesn't seem to be a drop from losing Josh McDaniels. So until you can prove it's the coordinators and not Belichick, no thanks. And no thanks to the pickle boy too.
Well, I don't know about 'proof', but the Pats signed Randy Moss and Wes Welker after Weis left, so it could very well be raw talent helping the Pats right now.

since davidson was kind of seen as a weiss protege early on, it would make sense for them to want the real deal.

there are a couple things i would have to wonder about this....

1) would weiss be allowed full control over the offense being that he has such experience and success as an OC?

2) would weiss push for a better QB and would fox give in?

if this were to happen i wouldn't be opposed to fox staying.

i still think that fox is lacking the intensity and fire to win every game but this would help.

i'm not sold on them being HCs or GMs but if they have been a OC there i don't think it would be a problem for them to be one here.

Clausen and Weis would certainly make this Offense much better than it is. Weis loves athletic WRs and he would want more than just Smitty. Maybe he would turn Goodson into one like he did with Golden Tate.

I think they said ND was 6th in the nation in passing in tonight's game. And Goodson has that potential. I wouldn't mind him as OC.
