Yall do understand that Watson doesn't get to choose where he goes, Houston does. He only has veto power.

Well he kinda does though.  He can say "I will not waive my NTC except to go to Carolina" and Houston is kinda screwed.  I guess they dont have to actually trade him, but that would get real messy real fast.

Chinns positional value just isn’t there. Burns is the one that will hurt the most imo. People forget he just finished his 3rd year. For his position he has so much room to grow.

Agree. Losing Chinn is not a big deal. Not worked about Burns either because he's very one-dimensional. He's still got room to develop, but I think it's far from a guarantee that he's more than a dynamic pass rusher with serious holes in his game against the run.

Yeah, I don't like it at all...

As I was telling a friend recently who doesn't get to see our games but knows about our star players - if Burns could complete the tackle even a 1/3 of the time on the ones he gets a hand on the QB and missed, he would be cranking out 15 sacks a year, MINIMUM.  Now if he converted at an even higher rate in those misses, he very easily could have a 20 sack year any given year.

I really hope we find a way to keep him.

Tepper needs to pull some blackops stuff here. Find a way to put 100mil quietly in DW pocket to only waive his trade clause for us

The problem is, he doesn't convert on those sacks.

I don’t think it’s a guarantee. But most de’s/olbs turn it on in their 4th or 5th year. I get people saying he’s suspect against the run. But he does have von Miller type potential. I see no way we have the best package and he’s not included.

That would be fuging amazing if they could pull that off. I'd hate to lose a guy like Chinn most of all.

Chinn and Horn should be off limits. I love Burns but he’s going to get a massive contract soon and there’s a decent chance he doesn’t live up to it so I’m ok letting him go. Chinn is he heart and soul of this D though and his position doesn’t get paid crazy amounts so should be easy to keep long term. Horn still has 4 more cheap years on his deal and looked like a shutdown number 1 corner before the injury. Can’t give that away.

Burns or Brown, sure but still ideally keep Burns too

Yea I just don't know about the Browns, I've been thinking about the cap and if it is true that Cleveland is desirable because of the roster, to make a move to get Watson the current roster wouldn't be the roster he plays with, they just don't have the room unless a lot of players including himself agreed to some pretty crazy contract renegotiations which I can't see that.

    • Easily. To be able to plug in a backup LT without much drop off from your starter? That could mean the difference between playoffs or sitting at home in January. Good/serviceable smart young and healthy LTs that won’t lose you a ball game at reasonable $$ don’t just come along every day. Everyone talks about the most important positions on a football team… backup LT is in the top 10.  Picture next year… the team is scrappy and competitive, 4 and 3 record, second place in the South. Morale is good. devastating run game that Let’s our marginal defense get plenty of rest. We play the Bucs and win, going to 5 and 3, but we lose Ickey to a high ankle sprain. Atl loses that week and are now at 5 and 3 as well. There is no Ickey and no BC because we let him go… and we go in to Atl the next week for a battle of first in the south. Week after that is the Jets…. Now they lose both by 10 and 3, respectively, and fall to 5 and 5 going in to their bye week. Atl is at 7 and 3. Out of typical Panthers desperation, they try to rush Ickey back in to the lineup with a saints game coming up…  Back to good old Panthers football, always playing catchup. Another season at .500 and the fans sadly rejoice in mediocrity, when playoffs were in reach. This team always overestimates its ability to pick up quality o line depth in the draft or FA and it always blows up in their faces. Like Chuba, I see him as being part of the core that Dan is trying to build. Work on his contract now and see if we can come out with something mutually beneficial. I’d consider 3 yrs at $25m to be very fair.
    • it would be great to have "double trouble" again, I even had a T- shirt for Williams and Stewart and the double trouble logo, was a great time to be Panthers fan. We shall see...
    • Sounds like a plan. Those are the teams we should be mimicking! lol
