Saints aren’t some big market, they’re just much better run than we are with better coaches and players.  The disparity is so big even the biggest Panthers fanboys can’t talk themselves in this thread into explaining why Watson would objectively prefer us to them

Please, New Orleans hosts the Super Bowl like every 3-4 years, the NFL is on a love affair with them. They're allowed to flirt with risking not being able to field a team under the cap by kicking the can with the assumption the cap will go up (while not illegal, it's risky and the NFL will let them off easy when they inevitably can't fix the cap mess). If Carolina tried what New Orleans does, we would lose draft picks for conduct detrimental to the integrity of the NFL.

"Correction"

while they haven't hosted it recently, the city of New Orleans has hosted the 2nd most SBs behind Miami.

So Rhule is over short-arm LT phobia?  Even so, rolling with BC doesn't make him elite.  I like BC, but franchise LT he is not.

We really didn’t get a long enough look at him to tell. With that said, I wouldn’t let his presence prevent us from drafting an elite one at 6. It’s such a crucial position.

If we get Watson, there is no pick #6 this year.  BC has to be the guy...good, mediocre or terrible.

If Deshaun goes to the Saints, I'm not just done with the Panthers, I'm done with the NFL.

People like to $hit on our FO here, but if Tepper had his way, McCarthy would be the HC and Stafford would be our starting QB, we beat LA and Dallas's offers.

I'm done with this whole "big market" sports BS, this crap is turning into the NBA. The Hornets will never win a championship because 3 players can choose to go in a big market and bully everyone else.

It's not about Watson at this point, it's the fact Tepper has spared no dollar to field a winning team and is willing to give the biggest haul in NFL history and it's STILL NOT ENOUGH for us to get anyone to QB this team outside of the draft.

You're seeing why Rhule still has a job, because anyone who has a big TV name steals any players that are not drafted.

We are now the Hornets, we have to overpay and players and coaches still won't come here.

It's not even about Watson at this point, we HAVE TO WIN this trade, we will deal with Watson for up to 13 years if we don't.

If Houston lets the Saints screw them, the NFL can kiss my A$$

Well I wouldn’t bring up the theory that the NFL officials are influenting the outcome of games to benefit big market teams.  That could send you over the edge.  I wont go there

Ultimately, the reaction to the Saints coming in last minute to steal your girl, or at least that's how the pro-Watson fans perceive it, is just lashing out because they haven't quite come to grips with the fact that we're now one of the worst run franchises in the NFL, with a terrible owner and even worse coaching staff.  And that no star wants to be part of, naturally.  It sucks, and it's hard to cope with, especially for some fans who couldn't even cope with us merely being a mediocre franchise from 1995-2019.  But it's true, and that's why we've been bad, will be bad this year, and because of bad moves by the previously mentioned bad owner and coach, will probably be bad for the next few years as well.  Five stages of grief, might as well just enter acceptance.

Only then will they recognize that Watson to the Saints or wherever isn't the coup they so think it is, and that we'll actually have the last laugh.

So we have a “terrible owner and worse coaching staff,” but we’re going to have the “last laugh” after we lose a franchise QB to a divisional rival

lol, okay…

If Darnold is in the deal, we will have plenty of money to sign a key FA

Darnold and 2 D players pretty much breaks them even on cap space getting rid of Watson, but if they think they can extend the young defensive guys they might be willing to eat the Darnold money this year and have him and Davis Mills battle it out in camp. Also the extra 1st round picks help if they're trying to tank this year anyway

I mean, our HC was likely our 3rd choice and Wilson, Stafford, and now possibly Watson blew us off. The only chance any Charlotte NBA or NFL team has at being successful is drafting and winning with rookie deals.

People hate Hurney for overpaying players, but the man drafted the three greatest players in franchise history. Small market teams are forced to overpay because the players will sign in bigger markets for less money.

I don't care about getting Watson at this point, the small team stigma puts at such a competitive disadvantage we have to hit on ALL of our picks to win a SB.

LA traded their way into one.

Exactly, hence why highest bidder gets him.

New Orleans will exit the room within so many days,  NO will have to get somewhere close to our offer for the NTC to matter. #18 is nowhere close in value to #6.

New Orleans would essentially be making Houston lose an entire 1st round pick in value should that trade happen.

Don’t they first need to worry about getting under the salary cap by Monday or Wednesday?
