You're taking this way too personally.  We had an average QB in 2020 and we won 5 games though.

What am I taking personally? I don't give a fug about you. I want you to explain your reasons though, to prove they aren't half-baked garbage. Since you didn't answer before:

1. Which cap hits, specifically, should we be worried about, in the upcoming years?

2. What reasons, specifically, are there for Watson not to trust Tepper?

Lovie Smith may not have done well in college, but he has an over .500 overall record in the NFL.  He has also been known to be popular with players.  I wouldn't place him as a top tier head coach, but he's better than Matt Rhule.

ANYBODY is better than Matt Rhule. I would take almost ANYONE gladly over Rhule and that is no exaggeration.

my only hope is that Rhules incompetence as a head coach and general bone-headedness turns off Watson

Rhule is a non factor. Tepper is waiting to land watson to decide on the next coach. This is Rhules last year unless Watson likes him.

You're using language like someone who's upset.  But a lot of our cap room is spoken for over the next 2 seasons depending on who goes the other way in the trade.  This website is a great reference for that as you can look at 2022, 2023 and 2024.  https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/carolina-panthers/cap/

And I'm simply pointing out that this player has burned a bridge with ownership and there is a possibility it happens with his next team.

I'm done with this for now though.  It's just a bunch of name calling and poo flinging instead of having a discussion.

So, trade multiple firsts to move up and acquire a rookie QB who may not be any good at all instead of trading multiple firsts to acquire a surefire top 5-7 QB in the league who is 26 years old?

Got it.

LOL…leave out the players going out and his enormous cap hit and him costing many more premium picks than a move up would cost.  Not to mention the 22 pending civil suits.  Lets ignore all that

They should be.  But hey, maybe some organizations don't want the stink of Watson hanging over their franchise.  Must be refreshing to have standards.

Houston isn't trading him in their division

I hate the idea of Watson being the face of the franchise for obvious reasons.

But if we gotta do this, Darnold better be going out with those 3 firsts. If Burns has to go, so be it - but we need to get something back - like a 2nd or 3rd.

If we dump Darnold's 18m and re-cast Watsons 35m base salary to some sort of bonus, we may be looking at 30m in cap in addition to the 30m or so we already have.

We can then eat CMC's hit in a trade to buffalo for some additional draft capital.

If we play our cards right, we could walk away with Watson, a second, a third, and 40m in cap.  We can build something with that.

Yes, I have known about spotrac for about a decade. You didn't answer either question. Will you answer them? Which cap hits are long-term concerns? What are the reasons Watson shouldn't trust Tepper?

It is but we haven’t made the move yet.  Holding out hope he goes somewhere else.  Someone on ESPN said we have inquired about Trubisky.  Get the OT at six and bring in Mitch to bridge us to next year and spend some serious capital then to move up and get our guy

why do we need mitch to bridge us to next year?

Lol you really think they’d trade him in their own division?!

If they actually accept the type of ransom being thrown out there while no other team does?  Players end up facing their old teams all the time.  I think the whole "we don't want to face him" thing is WAY overblown by any traded player.  It projects weakness and distrust within you own four walls that you can't overcome playing against one of your former players.

Houston is setting the terms of the deal.  Not us.

With so many teams trying to get Watson, they can ask for whatever they want and get it.

I think the best thing you are telling Watson is that we are retiring the turnstiles.  Problem is we don’t have a way to readily address the issues plaguing us on the line. Fitty needs to earn his money and figure out a way.  Granted that I think anything would be an improvement.

It's absolutely butt-hurt. You're assuming on the front-end that he shouldn't trust Tepper. What are your specific reasons for this? Because you're mad he hired Rhule and mad he didn't fire him? Therefore, no one should trust him?

It's not going to take 3-5 years to build around him, get real. The Panthers with just an average QB last year are a 9-10 win team. I wonder if every team has as many Chicken Little fans as the Panthers?

Its absolutely going to take 3-5 years to rebuild if we trade away all that capital.  Have you seen our roster as it stands now?

How in your opinion are we going to build the line to make it simply average?
