There should be no issue with Watson waiving his trade clause per ESPN.

I stand by it: Tepper trading every good player and a ton of draft picks for Watson is a back door way to move the team.

Lowest attendance in modern NFL history incoming.

So you're saying the team would be less exciting with Watson at QB?

The Rams weren't offering top 10 picks, and what could be a top 5 pick next year. They fully expected to get to the SB which would mean pick 32 and then another late 20s/30s pick. Value isn't close to the same.

very few teams in the NFL think their next year draft pick is going to be top 5.... lol

Yeah the Rams were a QB away from winning it all. Their team was loaded and already made several runs. Teams like that makes sense to trade away picks for a QB. A team with a ton of holes in its roster would be stupid to make this move.

Of course they don't but you also have to be realistic. Stafford wasn't taking this team to a SB. 2 1sts from Carolina was worth more than 2 from the Rams because the Rams are the far better team, but we didn't offer 2 1sts.

We are also coached by Matt Rhule, a 2nd year coach from college with no major wins and a coaching staff made up of guys with almost zero NFL experience.

Carolina is/was a much better risk to end up in the top 10 vs the Rams. If Carolina had made the same offer as the Rams, Detroit would have taken it because the likelihood of the picks being better was much higher.

We did. The rams added another 1st rounder to get the deal done. That and stafford and Mcvay were down in Mexico together already wife swapping.

The 2nd first round pick offered by the Rams was for the Lions to take on the contract of Goff. It wasnt 2 firsts just for stafford. The rams paid the lions to pay goff.

Stafford chose the rams over us. It wasnt a bidding war. Trading goff was the only way the Rams could take on staffords contract.

You should read up on how that deal went down. It was a respectful moves by the Lions franchise for Stafford.

its pretty much an identical situation. Panthers/Rams desperate for bettter QB talent. Texans/Lions disgruntled QB who wants out.

From what I've read, the Rams weren't desperate for a better QB even though they weren't happy with the recently extended Goff. The opportunity came up to trade for Stafford and they took it. That is not the same as the Panthers' blunders at QB since Rhule became coach and each increasingly desperate attempt the team has made to find a good starter since tossing Cam aside.

No. McVay came out and said straight up after their playoff loss in 2020 that they needed to upgrade the QB position. He gave Goff zero votes of conifdence. They created the opportunity with Stafford. Stafford and McVay are friends off of the field, and were with each other in cancun with their lives when the trade talks about Stafford first started.

This is going to be like that Hershel Walker to Minnesota trade--the one that built a dynasty--in Dallas.

Yea I'll go ahead and put my name down on record.  This trade is pants on head retarded for the Panthers.  I'll gladly eat my words but hopefully this never goes through and he gets traded elsewhere.  This would be a tremendous mistake for the franchise.  Deshaun hasn't won anything in this league because he can't do it by himself.  He will not fare any better here than in Houston.  And he will make things bad in the future when Rhule gets fired and Watson demands to be placated by the head coach selection who will have 0 first day draft picks.  Just bad all around.

    • I think a lot of wrs are going to go in the second round before we pick.  There are a lot of wr needy teams.  I think there will be a big run on them in the late 30s and 40s.
    • Interesting that they met with Walker three times and Cam Jackson twice.
