Florio: Panthers understand they have to give up 3 firsts, another pick, and 1-2 (Chinn, Burns, Brown, Horn)

Saints just restructured Kamara’s contract, they are clearing space for some reason. U can say to get out of cap hell, but they have a genius as their cap guy. I can see them trading for Watson. I’m tired of seeing these guys go to these other teams in our division

All the draft picks are one thing. If you give up the pick and all those players, it'll take several years to actually build a team around Watson. And he'll likely be up for a new contract around the same time. Like cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Again. In what world is Watson worth more than Wilson!?

The one where Russell Wilson is turning 34 this year. He's a small guy dependent on mobility. Strong chance that trade is a huge bust for Denver. Not that there isn't obvious risk with Watson, but I'd sure rather be hitching my wagon to a 26-year old franchise QB than one who is 33-34.

If the Saints pull that off it would be a Christmas miracle.

Ok,,  I'm in,

3 number 1's ..

1) Our First round this season,,  a non criminal Watson is worth our first pick 2022

2) Sam Darnald  😀 ,  Yup, he's a 1st round pick ( dumb Jets and Panthers )

3a) Shaq Thompson ..  another first round pick..   ( CMC  is 3b  )

That's  ALL  I'm willing to give up in the Florio scenario .

The reason is they're still $24M OVER the salary cap and have to be under by the start of the league year on March 16.

Yeah u do know they still sign people. They’re the only team I’ve seen do that. They are talking about honey badger too

But you do understand they have to clear a significant amount of cap just to meet their league obligations, right? It does not necessarily portend a big move - they MUST clear at least that much space in the next week just to get to $0. This does not include the money they'll need for their draft class, likely $8-10M.

They always manage to make cap moves, but they are in an even tighter than usual spot this year. It might well be the year that they just let it ride and try to catch their breath on the cap.

If you were trading for either, you're only actually retaining them both for 3-4 years. That's it. Anything past that isn't given. In that situation, the guy who actually has accomplished something in the NFL,is more valuable. Even if he's older.
