I hope we can get him for less than the broncos gave up

Probably not happening.  The Broncos traded for a guy with about 5 years left in the tank.  Watson is still very young.  And this is the same front office that gave up 3 picks for Sam Darnold when nobody else was calling.

Yeah but he also has baggage with all this stuff and a possible suspension

I'm a no and no.

From a pure football perspective, he is going to cost more than Wilson just cost.  But he is arguably more talented.      Problem is we are WAY more than 1 player away from competing IMO.

I won't stop being a Panther fan either.  It will feel "icky" with him on the team but the whole situation is full of gray.  He obviously has had vey questionable moral decision making (putting it mildly) but I don't know that I will call him a rapist or sexual predator unless grandy jury sees enough to indict.

I don't personally like having to discuss potential sexual assault with my teams QB but won't give up my fandom.

I want them to acquire him just to watch this place twist itself into knots as people disregard their previous moral outrage when we start winning.

Since this is mostly directed at me let me be the one to set the record straight.  The Panthers could win the next 10 SB's and I still would not be a fan or watch a single game if Watson is on the team.   Is that clear enough for you?

thats-gonna-be-a-no-from-me-dawg.gif&f=1

Listen, at first I was all about it. I was on the train. I was driving the damn train. I was all up front like

tenor.gif?itemid=7862623&f=1&nofb=1

Then the accusations started. I was like

nah-gif-1.gif&f=1&nofb=1

As soon as he's refusing to play for the Texans and demanding a trade, sexual misconduct accusations start up driven by a lawyer with Texans ownership connections. Way too convenient. It stinks. This is just sabotage from a jilted Texans organization.

Then more and more... and more accusations started coming to light.

Uh oh. Wait a minute...

tenor.gif?itemid=10178876&f=1&nofb=1

At this point?

giphy.gif&f=1&nofb=1

Tepper is gonna do whatever he's going to do. My faith in him is virtually nil. My confidence in Rhule is absolutely nil. But if we make this trade, I'm rolling with this guy wherever he lands

Hopefully it's not a divisional rival but if it is it'll be a bitter pill to swallow but I'll manage.

The nfl literally doesn’t care. He’s going to play for a team. Ben raplesburger was accused of much worse and no one in the league cared, many commented on what a great guy he was upon retirement. This idea that the panthers should be the only team composed of good guys while the rest of the nfl uses tyreek hills and Jameis winstons is laughable to me. They will be on a team in the league- abandoning  your fandom bc a college hc,that is probably fired in a year, made a move for an ass hole is so dumb to me. Focus on all the good guys we have on this team

I think by virtue of missing an entire season and the potential existing for a lengthy suspension when he is reinstated (amid the chatter about Ridley's ridiculous full season suspension, this could be a bigger deal for the NFL to "prove it" than previously considered) his value has cratered. As teams that are competitive start to fill their QB needs and the buyers list gets slimmer, not even Watson taking over his old job in Houston seems tenable anymore with the excitement they have for Davis Mills. GB is out. Seattle is rebuilding. Broncos are out. Miami is out. Where is the interest that would create a Wilson-like return?

Do we do something with Houston that looks like CMC and our 2023 1st? Perhaps. But the talk of multiple first round picks, etc. died on the day the decision was made to punt on trading him last season when he could have served his suspension and been ready to go to start this year. Now, trading for him is a 2 year commitment in a league with no memory for a player who hasn't played a snap for ages. All of this before we even talk about the moral and ethical responses around the league and in the fanbase. Can he just show up on Day 1 and take a locker room back? How is he going to be received by his peers?

I still think the biggest mistake the Texans made was not trading him last season. Now, everyone has eyes for finding their Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert, Mac Jones, etc. and doing a 2-year turnaround with a franchise guy. Not waiting a full year for a starter and having to insert him midseason (or later) basically promising a rough adjustment for a player who will then have not taken a snap in 2 years.

At this stage, taking on Watson is more of a rebuild move than drafting a QB at 6 with how the league has moved towards Day 1 starters with expectations right away.
