Oh wee mayne. Imagine trading Cam and releasing Luke in the same off-season. That's what Seahawks fans are going through right now.

fug 'em, but still... yikes.

Hey I made a thread about how much less they have to gripe about than us since we already experienced it but our team sucks much worse

Carroll is just simply overrated.  He would have been fired years ago if Russell Wilson wasn't drafted by the Seahawks.  They were ready to hand the keys to the franchise to Matt Flynn in 2012.

I don't think Carroll was overrated. I think he just didn't adjust to the current era of the NFL. Which, he's 70....that is understandable.

Centerpiece of offense and defense gone in one day.  Wow.

That being said...  would love to have Wags, but almost willing to bet money he ends up with New England.  Fits the mold.

I actually don't want Wagner. He is a "win now" piece and will either want to chase rings or a payday. Chasing rings he can't do here and I don't want expensive veterans chasing one last big payday.

That's how you end up in cap hell. Ask Marty Hurney.

He went 7-9 for 2 seasons prior to 2012, when Russell Wilson entered the chat.  If Matt Flynn is that team's starter, they are 7-9 or worse in year 3 and I bet Pete gets the axe.

Wilson was a big part of the length of success but don't forget their SB berths were largely on the backs of having arguably the most talented roster in the NFL. Defensively amazing, maybe the best RB in the NFL.....I like Wilson but he wasn't the sole reason for their success.

The team was stacked, but they weren't going anywhere without a QB.  Matt Flynn was hot garbage.

Agreed but you can't use that as the basis for Carroll being "overrated." I mean, they were the second most successful team in the NFL during his era as head coach. 8 of 12 seasons at 10+ victories, only 3 seasons with a losing record(never less than 7 wins).

I am not making an argument for him being an all time great but you don't accidentally win all those games in the NFL. This isn't college football.

I'm not saying Pete's trash, but I think he's closer to Ron Rivera than he is to the all time great coaches.  I will also just go ahead and state the obvious that I am a bit of a Russell Wilson fan.  I lived in the Seattle area when he was drafted because of my job and I've followed most of his career.
