The Seahawks subreddit is a mess right now. What a bunch of pansies. Let's laugh at them.

Ideally, yes. But you're also saying this right after a team won the SB with a mercenary QB.

Historically this is not the norm. Brady doesn't even count, he's the GOAT.

Stafford was a rare exception of a QB going onto a Superbowl caliber roster and being the missing piece. It rarely pans out that way though.

The Seahawks are making moves that winning franchises make to continue long term sustained success. The current formula to win in the NFL centers around having a QB on a rookie contract and building up the rest of the roster until that young QB develops. The team reaches their peak when that QB signs the second contract, and the roster devolves from there due to lack of resources. Many teams have followed this formula but kept their aging franchise QB far too long. Atlanta is a prime example.

What you say is certainly true. But, it's sad that once a QB hits his prime the less likely he is to win a title due to a lack of quality players and depth on both sides of the ball. You would think it would be easier to win a title as your QB matures, no harder. These mega salaries for QB's have really ruined the game in a lot of aspects after you're unable to keep a solid team because of salary cap issues. But, I guess it doesn't matter as long as the QB gets his money.;

Not a good year to get rid of a franchise QB. Rogers and wilson off the market. They have a lot of options to downgrade and there are 2 possible options in the draft, Willis and Howell.

IDK what they plan to do at that position other then get a Teddy and draft their guy to sit this year or next year. This is a team that Wilson has carried and straight dragged into the playoffs until last year.

That's exactly why they traded him. His massive salary was preventing them from properly building up the rest of the roster. Same issue the Falcons have had the past 3-4 seasons. Except no one wants Matt Ryan hahaha

As is Russell. The Broncos really might be a legit QB away from making some serious notice though their division is an obstacle. On paper, that division is STACKED.

Russell Wilson's salary didn't trade 2 1st round picks for Jamal Adams.  Among other bone headed moves by the front office.

I think people are looking at this backwards.  The front office is getting all the credit for the success since Wilson was on the team, but Wilson was the driver of that success.  This FO staff will flame out and Pete will end up retiring when they cant' find a QB.  I would be willing to bet money on it.

Russ is a great QB, a bit overrated but definitely a franchise guy. But he wanted out and they were likely to lose him for nothing, his celebrity wife didn't want to be in Seattle any more. It's a trade they had to make. And Pete Carroll is old, yes, and he's had Russ most of his coaching career, but he's still a great coach. I think they still compete for a wild card spot next season. Seahawks fans are a bunch of crybabies who've been spoiled by their last decade of success and SB win and appearance.

Their terrible drafting is why their roster fell apart. When you have terrible draft after terrible draft it's hard to build a roster. Hell, Panthers fans should know that as well as anyone.

I'd hardly consider the Broncos roster to be Superbowl caliber.

When your team drafts in the late 20s year after year it's harder to get blue chip difference maker players. Eventually that comes back to bite you. Grated the Seahawks have been worse at drafting since the early 2010s when they had a couple historic draft classes, but it's still true.

But he went to Denver. Denver is basically Seattle viewed through a time machine set to 20 years ago. It's not like he went to LA or NYC.

Fair but it's been clear for a while now he wanted out of Seattle, point is if they didn't trade him he was going to leave anyways in FA or make things ugly. There was way too much smoke there the last few years. Team had no choice, the crying fans don't understand that. They should be upset with him for forcing his way out of there.
