REPORT: Panthers have received trade calls for Christian McCaffrey

The Panthers’ offensive line was a major problem this year. They were listed as second to last in terms of Pro Football Focus ratings and had to many performances that left a lot to be desired.

There are many teams who have good or even premier linemen that if were included in any potential trade for Christian McCaffery, could improve this critical area and even enable  the Panthers to enjoy more success in 2022 and possibly beyond.

When you think about it, trading your best offensive player to improve your offense sounds impractical. But the Panthers’ protection in front of whoever is under center is in dire need of reinforcements,  so pulling the trigger to fix this is a discussion that needs to be had if another team comes in with a suitable offer.

As unusual as it seems, it could be the blockbuster trade to get  Panthers offense on track for success in the coming years.

That is sadly a possibility. But realistically what do we think we will be achieving here with CMC in the next three years? And with his workload and injury history, do you actually think he could stay a dominate player in four years from now?

The reality is it sucks to move on from a player like CMC knowing damn well we will likely end up getting a younger but lesser talent in return. But at some point, you just have to cut your losses, get what you can and accept it.

We aren't winning anything while CMC is in the league. Might as well get a 1st for him while you can. It's sad, but its the way it goes. See Kemba Walker.

Have the Hornets accomplished anything noteworthy since the Kemba departure?

My biggest concern with CMC when we drafted him was if he could stand up to the punishment of the NFL especially running between the tackles.  He showed he can do it by bulking up, but has also shown he can't stay healthy either.

Yes, trade him because we need more ammo down the road and a healthy CMC gives Rhule the best chance of winning.  We obviously can't have Rhule winning too many games this season.

He would've 100% played in more games over the past two seasons had we been contending. Whether that was CMC's call or someone else's I don't know.

Most athletes are like Monty Python's Black Knight when it comes to injuries, so...

No, but we are probably on course to be a perineal playoff team beginning this season. It’s an extremely young core of guys, with a Kenna drafted replacement that made his first all star appearance in his second season and the Hornets are considered to be one of the most exciting young teams in the league.

We probably are in the playoffs for the next 4-5 seasons
