What would y'all think of hiring Ken Dorsey as HC next year?

Cam should have deferred to his elders...

What? Smitty was being Smitty. Great player, but he could be a volatile ass with his teammates or even on the field.

Smith hit Cam. That's Smith's fault. He's lucky it didn't go the same way it did the previous two times he assaulted a teammate.

A million times this

My eight year old grandson wants what he wants without any thought to cost, effort required or circumstances.

Sadly, we've got adults on here who think the same way about franchise quarterbacks.

Cam was cocky when he was young probably needed it.

Exactly what he needed.

Rivera was afraid of Cam and Smitty was the only guy holding him accountable...

...everyone would have been better off with Smitty & Cam both on the squad.

Damn this hurts so bad to say this but I totally agree. I would have never got rid of Smitty because it hurt Cams feelings. Dumb as hell

EDIT:

See you say he "slapped" him?

When and where?

In the face after a practice in the panthers locker room from what I remember. It was a pretty big discussion around here, but we didn't hear about it until after he was gone. Wasn't exactly the kind of thing the team wanted getting out. Wasn't as public as the training camp incident (I was there for that) and nobody had to go to the hospital like after the first assault. Easier to keep contained and Cam probably didn't make it any better.

At that point Cam was the future and Smitty wasn't doing much here. He had more in the tank for sure, but he wasn't letting it out. Dude was getting into more fights than he was getting into the end zone. I hated seeing him go and think it was crappy the way it was handled, but it wasn't surprising after it happened.

Is there a credible source who can corroborate this?  I certainly don't see anything out there about it and were it true the press certainly would be all over it, no way they'd participate in a coverup in order to protect "the team".

That said, if it's true...so what?

Did Cam "slap" him back?  If not, why not?

You know Michael Jordan punched Steve Kerr in the face and Kerr went right back after him until teammates broke it up, Kerr ended up with a black-eye...

...then they booted up and went out and won 3 straight World Championships together.

    • I'm not saying he should be working in the NFL. He did deserve some criticism as DC there. But Kyle Shanahan certainly did use him as a convenient scapegoat. Now there is no one left to throw under the bus. Anyways he could find his way back to the league in some capacity who knows. But he's old school and in the NFL you either adjust or you get left behind. All the same no hard feelings toward him he's a good guy.
    • he has barely suited up for 50% of our games.  It matters pending how much of our cap and resources go that way.  If he cost in the ballpark of a Surtain? No thank you.  Let someone else  And as far we know what happens when we let talent walk away or trade them…..that’s a mixed bag.   should we of paid Norman, Bradberry at CB? They probably had earned the right to be called better than Horn at that moment of the decision.  Do we regret that? Do we regret Star walking? Can take it back to Spoon.  Flip side is probably Peppers.
    • We need to get better in the redzone. And yes that is an issue that involves all the moving parts. Oline receivers QB and playcalling. But Bryce himself has to lead the charge on that or surely we could face another blowout in one of these upcoming games. Every team no matter how good they are is going to face an opponent that imposes their will on them and requires the same in response. Those are the games where we have got to capitalize on drives. Honestly I get the sense that the Chiefs on some level overlooked us.  So while I am pleased we were as competitive as we were it certainly remains to be seen if this was the beginning for something new or just an anomaly. I think that's a perfectly fair take at this juncture.
