If we draft a QB, I want Carson Strong

Willis began his career at Auburn and couldn’t become the starter. The competition on the defensive side is the offensive equivalent.

Willis couldn’t start at Auburn and Burrow couldn’t at OSU. Haskins got the nod over him so he transferred. Coaches overlook talent all the time. Hell Brady almost transferred from Michigan because he wasn’t starting his first couple years.

When a team like Liberty is playing against a team like Ole Miss, the talent on offense and defense isn’t equal.

It may be.

Just a reminder though that decisions like that can sometimes come back to haunt you.

For sure yeah, but at the time Brees just had shoulder surgery and it wasnt degenerative like Strongs knee.  Miami should have signed him but at the time he failed like 2 physicals because of his shoulder and wanted a ton of money from miami.  At least that is how I remember it

Where did you read Strong’s knee is degenerative?

Oh ok just guessing then. I haven’t read it anywhere, just curious.

Not really a guess as he is getting a cadaver cartilage in his knee which tells me it arthritic and degenerative.    Adding to the fact that his knee already has scar tissue and it swells during the season I just think once this stuff is looked at during the combine he is going to drop like a rock.

There is a doctor’s opinion on it. It was a 70% tear that usually takes 2 surgeries to clean up. The swelling is common and expected from early stresses of playing. She thinks the longevity of the knee is pretty high. It will get the full treatment of when the NFL doctors give it a look.

Strong’s knee and Pickett’s hand size will definitely give us some answers soon.

I don't necessarily have strong opinions about Strong, but this story does remind me a little of that time when the Dolphins were too worried about a certain quarterback's shoulder to sign him.

I've forgotten his name. I think it was Drew something 😐

Drew had played and had some measure of success in the NFL. Also, almost no one in the NFL would touch Brees because his injury was considered so severe the likelihood of him ever playing again was considered low(much more serious than a standard shoulder injury).

Strong's injuries are going to be scrutinized because of players like Todd Gurley(huge red flags coming into the NFL) and also he is already am extremely immobile QB in a league where mobility is becoming more important.

There is a lot of speculation in that article.  But the big thing to me is the doctor is comparing the surgery to non nfl players.  What is considered a success or if the knee will "hold up" is drastically different for a guy thats going to play professional football.

    • There probably was a fine needle thread line where it could have worked to some level as the kid has talent.  But Rhule and fitt completely ruined him.  He wasnt mentally tough enough to overcome their fugery.  Trade up for the kid, tell everyone you had a first round grade on him, bury him on the depth chart behind Walker, get him killed behind a poo line and thats a wrap.  He never got a legit chance here
    • I mean it got Corral drafted by the Panthers and ranked #1 in the class by Simms lol.  That dude had no shot at being a productive NFL QB.
