I'm a passenger on the Corral train

I don’t know about y’all. I really wanna trade down and take one of Corral or Howell (Willis hype probably gets too high and hopefully someone takes small hands before we can if we do trade down) and also nab someone like Kenyon Green or Zion Johnson or whichever tackle falls (between Penning and Raimann).

He is a fiery leader and has a very quick release. The obvious negatives are size and the RPO offense. While I really like him, he would need a year on the bench if he came here. We don't have the line to protect him and he needs a year of NFL conditioning and learning the NFL game. But the kid has a ton of heart and he has the tools to succeed in the NFL.

He is a good but unspectacular pick. He has above average arm strength, but not a cannon. His main flaws are his size and not being accurate. He throws around the area of recievers not to them and while you can get away with that in college, you can't in the pros. He is a less talented Baker Mayfield. No thanks

Per that earlier post--Was not aware of his character concerns.  The best QBs are a bit of pricks but his HS-to-college transition does seem a bit immature.

I'm still open to the kid though.

Could be a fluff, but people can change.  He checks the most marks and has the least concerns on the field in my opinion while being the closest to the modern mold.

Don't mind him at 6 but prefer Ekwonu, Neal, Cross, and dare I say Garrett Wilson over him.

He is an intriguing prospect but like the other quarterbacks not without those looming question marks. As we get closer I think we have to roll the dice on one of these guys. It’s that or an OT and for the record we are so LT hungry here people have basically bought into a narrative that we won't miss if we take one. And if you don't want a QB in the upcoming draft then don't enter threads about the subject these posts are beyond tiresome.

Yes, picking an inferior player simply because it's a position of need is only realistic on a message board. IRL that's never going to happen. I think most mature football fans know that to be true. Once the top tackles are gone, they're gone!

Right. The expectations are getting a little lofty too. Folks saw the rookie season Slater had and seek the same but unless we solve center any rookie tackle is likely going to take his lumps amongst this current group and you know the B word will get thrown out quick. It sure would have been nice to have a second or third round pick this year 🤦‍♂️

What are the red flags on Matt Corral? Need to know the bad that comes with the good.

He is a hot head. Gets into fights.

Think a mix of Cam Newton, Jeff George, Johnny Manziel, Jim McMahon and Ryan Leaf. This is the demeanor of the QB you want when you take Matt Corral. He will break rules, break laws, break faces with his throwing hand. It's Matty's world and we just live in it.

He obviously has great talent and athleticism. Outside of his flat rocket balls, high throws, and overthrows (similar to Cam's passing style).

He also has a well known injury problem.

Would you want a smaller more fragile version of Cam Newton and his reckless play style when he runs, doesn't protect the ball, and doesn't slide?

If yes, then Corral is your QB.

He has issues through HS and college with authority, drugs, alcohol, and fighting. I don't see him doing well with millions in his bank account and no chaperone (like the one that follows him around at college). Ole Miss did not get Corral because they were his choice. The schools Corral wanted like USC, Georgia, and Florida did their due diligence and passed on him. Corral has not been an easy player for the coaches of Ole Miss to corral during his time at Ole Miss.

In Corral's own words, he has been mad at the world. He believes his words get constantly taken out of context.

Is his 5 star talent and athleticism worth it? I don't see Corral and Rhule mixing well. I don't see Corral getting past 5 years in the NFL, and it won't be due to a lack of ability or athleticism.

Are you serious? He didn't even really do anything. As a matter of fact, his fellow players respected him more for it.

As for all the stuff @CPantherKingwas talking about Georgia and Florida not wanting him, that's not exactly true. Corral wanted to have an honest chance to start. He didn't necessarily like how Georgia did Fields, and he actually decommited to Florida who was lying to him, and he was also recruited by Bama. He likely made the best choice.

LOL…I’m just not much of a Corral fan.  Agree…not much there

Intriguing for sure but his size and RPO offense background will be tough to overcome for pick 6.

Lol his size. Didn’t realize that mattered for qbs. Is this the 80s? RPO is fair, sure, questions around how he’ll translate to an nfl offense. Just like fields last year. Just like a ton of college qbs. RPO offenses are quite common in college

Lololol. No thanks to a dude willing to defend his teammates? Yeah, what a red flag! He should’ve just said “welp he’s on his own Ima walk away like a pussy.” Reminds me of when cam ran over to defend Smitty after that late hit vs saints. Exactly what I want in a qb
