JC Horn has something to say about our team reaching for a QB with an early pick. If they were enamored, even slightly, I think we all agree they should have / would have taken one of the guys (Fields or Mac) early, last year.

I think with Fit involved, they'll make a pretty good decision there.

It's Rhule's choice. Not Fit. What Rhule wants, Rhule gets.

Fit (Rhule’s yes man) hasn’t made many good decisions since he got here.

Well, let's be honest...

JC Horn wasn't a good decision so I'm not sure why you're hanging your hopes on that

Sure he was.  You must have forgotten how abhorrent our pass D was the year before Jaycee was drafted.  We absolutely needed a legit CB, and we got one in Horn.  Hes going to be a dog for us.

And you may have forgotten our D was fine for the 14 games he didn’t play in.

Given how easily we addressed CB when he went down and are still absolutely woeful at OL - the all pro LT would have made more sense.

Nobody knew he was going to be an All Pro LT before the season started, and they had already invested a lot of capital in Free Agency on the line, so I imagine, in their minds, that the line should have been decent last year, even though it was terrible.  Hindsight is 20/20.

I still don't think we made a major mistake passing on Fields or Jones.

Here's are Fields stats from 2021:

TD: 7, INT: 10, Yards: 1,870, QBR: 26.5

I realize he didn't start the entire season which has some affect on his output. Still, his TD passes, yardage and QBR each ranked 31st in the NFL. I saw nothing in 2021 to suggest we set our franchise back a DECADE by passing on him. He played for an offensive-minded coach in Matt Nagy last year and still put up pedestrian stats. I doubt he would have done much better with us behind our woeful O-line and in an Joe Brady offense. Now, Nagy is gone and the Bears have hired a defensive-minded head coach, Matt Eberplus. I just don't see that as a good match. I'll regret not drafting Justin Fields after he wins a couple of MVP awards or a Super Bowl. Until then I'll never regret passing on an Ohio State QB.

Matt Jones had better numbers since he started most of the season.

TD: 22, INT: 13, Yards: 3,801, QBR: 50.9

Those numbers aren't bad at all for a rookie. But, take into account who he played with...The NE Patriots. Belichik is the most successful HC of the Super Bowl era. Matt had a solid OC in Josh McDaniel. The defensive is one of the best in the NFL. The offensive line is always good in New England. Do you guys think he would have been that successful in Carolina with our
O-line? Fields at least could have made "some plays" with his legs. Matt Jones would have been beat to death playing with the Panthers in 2021.

If we had a solid HC, OC, and O-line heading into 2021, I could see "possibly" taking one of them. Unfortunately, we had none of the above. Those guys dogded a bullet by not coming here. Still, I just don't think in 5 years any of us will be thinking "we'd be a perennial contender if we had taken Fields or Jones in 2021

I love jaycee and think he’s gonna be a beast but I don’t believe in building teams with top ten corner picks. I could see it if we were already an established team who had an off year. But these are building block picks right now. Need a qb, LT and pass rusher. We have 1 of those. Top ten corner picks on rebuilding teams are luxury picks imo.

    • One has a proven, offensive-minded, Super Bowl winning head coach along with a top 5 OL + defense. He's being protected and getting the ball back not having to chase the other teams. The other had Frank Reich + Thomas Brown their rookie year with a bottom 5 defense as well as a bottom 5 OL that gave up the 2nd most sacks against a rookie QB ever. The sophomore season is being ran with a top 5 OL but also with a rookie HC (that has just one year of OC experience) and a bottom 5 defense still. The Broncos defense has allowed over 20pts just three times this season (26 vs. SEA (L), 23 vs. LAC (L), 41 vs. BAL (L)). Meanwhile, the Panthers have had ONE game where the defense gave up less than 20pts (vs. NYG (W)).   I'm not sure how folks couldn't expect Bo Nix to statistically perform better given their incredibly different situations. With that said, I didn't expect Nix to keep ascending as impressively as he has this season. Hopefully his arc will give other older college QBs a better shot, especially given the recent media blitz against the NFL regarding how development of the QB position in the league seems to be non-existent. Hopefully Bryce continues to improve as well, of course.
    • “You can learn a lot in 10 games,” Nix said. “[I’m] still learning, still growing, but just finding ways to execute the play that’s called, no matter what it is: run play, pass play. It doesn’t matter. Just finding the right way to go with the ball.” To that point, Nix noted how his developing partnership with head coach Sean Payton has helped Denver’s offense get to the next level. “To be honest, I think at the beginning, you kind of make the NFL bigger than what it actually is,” Nix said when asked where he feels he’s made the most strides. “These players are really good, but at the same time, you have really good players on your level. I think simplifying the game, trying to play as fast as possible, and finding a completion, which is what we’ve been able to do here recently. “I think as we’ve gone on, Coach and I have found a good rhythm of what we both like, what we can kind of put out there on the field, and what we can execute. Then the guys have kind of adapted to it, found our roles within the offense, and executed at a high level. It’s just all about slowing the game down and processing things in a manner that you can handle. Just kind of see one or two things, and let those guys take you to where the ball is supposed to be.” -Bo Nix From what I'm gathering regarding Bryce, the Panthers entered this season with a reset mindset. It's Young's rookie year, which explains the benching. Now, we're beginning to see the development of Canales and Young's offense. Slow development but we're winning 😃
    • Bix has more tds through his first 11 games than bryce has his entire career....no comparison at all he made amazing throws during his first games his decision making just keeps getting better.  Young does not have the physical ability ro make the rhrows bo makes
