So what if he didn't? Does that erase the mess he has overseen here in just a few short years? You have gone out of your way to be an apologist for the status quo here but that's your right do your thing.

The point is that you and some of the other idiots around here parrot stuff that somebody else made up like it's true, and you need truth shoved down your ignorant throat once in a while.

For someone who was once loving the Darnold trade and comparing him to hall of famers last spring you should probably chill calling others idiots.

You "misremembered"... 🤦‍♂️

(not to mention Navarro didn't have the 💵💰)

The team was estimated by Forbes to be worth 2.3 billion. JR wanted more and was in negotiations with Navarro. Sale would have been much less than 2.8. You always start high with any sale and then negotiate down until you meet on a price. Buyer only has to put up 30% for the final sale price but the other owners have to vote on and approve the sale.

Navarro already had investors and and ownership group in place and was ready to increase his bid once Tepper made his offer. He wasn’t able to though because once Tepper made his bid the NFL fast tracked the sale. Something they did not attempt to do for Navarro.

“According to a source, it became clear to Navarro over the past two days that "the process was not moving in his favor."

"Therefore, there's a reality he's out of the process," the source added.”

“Tepper made a bid and flew to Charlotte on Wednesday and the NFL had the deal done by Friday with the announcement to come that Tepper was the new owner expected Monday.”

Navarro had been dealing with JR for 2 weeks and Tepper came in and the NFL had the deal done in 2 fuging days. Give me a break.

Not that I don't agree with the overall sentiment but Walter football does not and never has had legitimate sources.

I don't follow them much besides their free agent tracker, but it doesn't seem like they're generally in the drama business. I could be wrong though.

Guys like Kestenbaum and Navarro were only paraded through in an attempt to get Tepper up -- neither had the requisite cash to effect a purchase.

Correct, Navarro didn't have the cash.

Oh yeah?  Who were the other investors?

Tepper wasn't fast-tracked, but rather, he was the only legit candidate with cash in hand.

Navarro had a bid of $2.6B in place but Tepper knew he didn't have to raise his, because, it was known Navarro didn't have the cash/geetus/whip-out.

It was a one-horse race from the start...and the Appaloosa won.

PS...every time an NFL team is sold the other 31 are marked to market -- no way the other owners would allow Tepper to buy in at a discount, that's taking money out of their own pockets.

PPS...if you think Tepper's "hedgie" background plays poorly in the press, OMG is Navarro's sub-prime lending history was ever fully vetted 🤦‍♂️

I generally think a coach should get his way.

But that all assumes you have a decent coach.  If you have an unqualified idiot? Well, you end up giving up your 2022 draft picks for the worst QB in the NFL because your college defensive coordinator told you to.  This only ends one way.  And that became clear a long time ago.

A GM should be hired first.  Then he and he alone should find his partner to coach the team.  They need to be damn near symbiotic in their relationship.

The GM will understand what the coach wants and should draft and sign accordingly.

Not a single damn one of the aforementioned steps was followed by our poo org.

I’ll continue to believe that Tepper is too smart to make significant mistakes and become the next Dan Snyder or Stephen Ross rather than a Steve Bisciotti type owner.

Truthfully, I believe him keeping Rhule is him saying that he wants to be a stable owner even if that means he’s going to keep a coach who is failing and may continue to fail. He’s following through with his strategy that it will take 3-4 years to “right the ship” and if at the end of 3-4 years there still isn’t progress then you abandon the coach and start over. As opposed to Stephen Ross who fired a coach who was showing significant promise or Dan Snyder who fires a coach every other year.

John Harbaugh has had some great years and he’s had some pretty bad years. For about 4-5 years he had a .500 record and there were opinions he should be fired. Biscotti trusted Newsome and they kept him. After that stint he went 10-6, 14-2, 11-5. Contract extension.

Rhule took over a bad team and for the first off-season he had Marty Hurney making decisions. Including Hurney overruling Rhule on the Derrick Brown pick. Now….It doesn’t seem like Rhule’s pick necessarily would be have been better (CJ Henderson) BUT there is time for Rhule to have a Harbaugh type turnaround. Year 3 is important but as was the case with every other year if he makes the right decision with the QB then we should be improved.

@SizzleBuzzsorry didn’t realize you were the lead journalist on the Panthers sale. Also I never brought up anyones background so don’t know why that was brought up.

I can only use sources that reported on the sales which is why I quoted articles that covered it. I’m not the one coming up with these statements. I have no idea who is ownership group would have been nor do I know whether he had the 30% to buy the team. I can only go with what was reported. Everything you stated is pure speculation.
