Are people really STILL defending the decision to stick with Jake going into '09?

Say what you want about Jake but i know why the players and team support him. He is a warrior and put's it out there every week. he gives up his body to make plays and does it all game long. He may be struggling now but I would take him in battle over many of the whining fools on this board. At least you know where you stand and he has your back. Not like the brutus warriors who stab you when you are down like I been reading for weeks.

It's valid that there wasn't really much out there available this offseason that would have been any great improvement.

I'd say the team probably felt safe going with McCown if Delhomme struggled. Whether or not that decision was justified? No way we can ever know.

As someone else referenced, the ideal time to switch to Matt Moore was the bye week. Fox didn't do it then, and given how things have turned out since, it's highly unlikely Moore sees the field at all unless Delhomme is hurt. Fox is more likely to ride the status quo through season's end (probably even if we're eliminated).

So you want over emotional people who panic in tense moment's, make bad decisions and poor aim backing you on a battle field ? Good choice

For years, Weinke was the best quarterback on this team. Now we finally have a worthy successor in Matt Moore.

That's why the Panthers direct-snapped it to Williams what, 11 times in the Atlanta game of 2006?

Jake Delhomme may be playing horribly right now, but he was far and away the best quarterback this team has had on the roster since 2003. What's Weinke doing this days?

Funny, Jake wasn't the deciding factor in our success last season. Right now he's only becoming a factor for the other team. Why stick with him?

Wasn't the deciding factor in our success last year? Funny, but I remeber some of our winning TD from a late 4th Quarter comeback were from him. If it wasn't for him, we might been maybe 11-5 or 10-6 or maybe even lower. Yeah, he wasn't a deciding factor in our success last season. :rolleyes5: :smilielol5:

I think Weinke was with the 49ers last year. He probably in CFL. :P

I totally agree with you. I just remember the whole " start weinke" craze a few years ago. Anytime the starting QB is struggling every team has fans screaming " start (insert backup QB name here)!!!!!!"

It was reported by Jay Glazor during the Fox pregame in Week 2.

Fox is NOT objective in practice when it comes to the QBs. Jake is his guy.

Do you have the video? I beleive you, but Id like to see the exact quote

But regardless you can't base your argument because you heard one small quote that I'm sure ton of coaches tell there players after they have a bad game and/or shaken cofidence.

Besides that quote what else to have that proves Fox is not objective?

Didnt he drop Peete? I think its highly unlikley a Nfl coach wants keep one player in more then he wants to win.

If Moore gets a start this season through injury or just looking to see how he can play once we get eliminated from the playoffs and he plays better than Jake has on average this season, I'm going to make it my mission to bump up every. single. thread. that had people do nothing but bash Moore. It's going to be a lot of fun. I just hope Moore will get a start somehow before the season's over.

Why? So we'd be wrong, and we'd know it, without a bumped thread. Is it that big of a deal?

unless the team decides to totally rebuild or lucks up and gets a quality QB through the draft or free agency, I'd be happy with Delhomme as the QB next year

i only want delhomme replaced with a better qb, benching or getting rid of him because he's not as good as he used to be or as good as we want him would be silly, you play the best options you got at each postiion. jeopardizing our future for jay cutler or matt cassel would have been a poor choice, imo. matt moore apparently hasn't earned the starting job (and for those who say fox favors more experienced players, it didn't take delhomme long to earn the job from peete...)

assuming moore is better than delhomme is wishful thinking and honestly we could sit here and assume every back up is better than the starter but it's not a substantial argument

Yes...yes it is

What? Get that "mediocre/scared to take chances" mentality out of here. WTF is wrong with you slurpers? Like it or not, we ARE rebuilding next year. We had two years to "win now" and we didn't. Anybody who is happy that we're stuck with Jake needs to get their brain fixed...or watch the Eagles, Bills, Bucs, and last year playoff games.

Delhomme is not our best option. Jeff Fisher said Kerry Collins was his team's best option to win, but now we see their team is rallying behind Vince Young.
