If ur being funny sure... but fact is after the knee injury he was never the same player. We make all the fat jokes all day but he shed the weight after camp. Never regained that 4.5 ish speed after acl damage.

The knock on him coming out was he wasnt focused, no really competitive and in general just lazy.  He had a good rookie season and thats it.  He never was elite and I doubt the knee injury did anything but expedite the inevitable.  He was having work ethic issues before the injury for us.

one of a 100 articles detailing how lazy he was   https://247sports.com/Article/Steve-Smith-Kelvin-Benjamin-diss-parking-cars-Carolina-Panthers-wide-receivers-Florida-State-Seminoles-150995560/

I'm not saying he didn't play a big part in his own demise or that he wasn't lazy.  I'm  not gonna say he was a top 10 wr but I will say he had to be in the top 25 range and was probably more feared than that.

Also qoute was from Steve smith who was pissed about being  replaced by Benjamin. He never played a down with the kid. He was mad at gettleman so I dout he was hanging around practices to know if he was lazy and also was with the ravens... what does he know?

People love this narrative that they passed on OT need since they passed on Sewell but the fact was they had a decent LT already, it was the rest of the line that was bad.  They probably didn't feel like spending the 5th overall pick on a RT or interior OL.

They actually ending spending three picks in that draft on OL.

But they passed on Slater!!!!

    • I'm not saying he should be working in the NFL. He did deserve some criticism as DC there. But Kyle Shanahan certainly did use him as a convenient scapegoat. Now there is no one left to throw under the bus. Anyways he could find his way back to the league in some capacity who knows. But he's old school and in the NFL you either adjust or you get left behind. All the same no hard feelings toward him he's a good guy.
    • he has barely suited up for 50% of our games.  It matters pending how much of our cap and resources go that way.  If he cost in the ballpark of a Surtain? No thank you.  Let someone else  And as far we know what happens when we let talent walk away or trade them…..that’s a mixed bag.   should we of paid Norman, Bradberry at CB? They probably had earned the right to be called better than Horn at that moment of the decision.  Do we regret that? Do we regret Star walking? Can take it back to Spoon.  Flip side is probably Peppers.
    • We need to get better in the redzone. And yes that is an issue that involves all the moving parts. Oline receivers QB and playcalling. But Bryce himself has to lead the charge on that or surely we could face another blowout in one of these upcoming games. Every team no matter how good they are is going to face an opponent that imposes their will on them and requires the same in response. Those are the games where we have got to capitalize on drives. Honestly I get the sense that the Chiefs on some level overlooked us.  So while I am pleased we were as competitive as we were it certainly remains to be seen if this was the beginning for something new or just an anomaly. I think that's a perfectly fair take at this juncture.
