sorry Howell is over rated by UNC homers

dude had several NFL players on his offense in 2020 and didnt do poo

played in the ACC and was underwleming

hes also got the game body as baker mayfield..  just pastier, and harrier

Compare Trevor Lawrence’s stats to Howell’s and then re-assess why you believe Howell was underwhelming. Unless, of course, you didn’t think Lawrence was the golden child QB prospect in college.

Not enough to get up to 26…we would have trade next years 1 and more

A trade down first grabbing  Cross who would need to fall and then have Howell fall to round 2 would be nice.  Won’t happen IMO but I can dream

Next years first is going to be a top 5 pick so hell no trading next years first to move back up.  That would be incredibly dumb

Honestly, I'd rather trade players for picks, and that's what I think we'll ultimately do if the expectation is to be competitive in 2022.

This would not surprise me. But who besides CMC? Could Burns, DJ, Gross-Matos or Brown be on the block? I think Burns is actually the most likely. He was a Pro-Bowler. He is young. If we resign Reddick and Keep Haynes he may be viewed as the most expendable player that could result in a decent return of draft capital.

But if we are willing to trade a player like Burns (or the others)...what's to keep Rhule and Fit from trading instead for Cousins, Carr, or Jimmy G. Can you imagine those teams with Burns coming off the edge combined with the weapons they already have.....

We stick at 6 and take the best OT (Cross, Ekwonu, Neal)

We trade back into the first round *Pick 26* to get Sam Howell, and give up a 2nd and 3rd next year in the process.

Would you do it?

Don't want Howell, I'm a pass on a QB from a basketball school, he's not impressive to me. From what I can see he's solid / good, but no ''elite'' trait that stands out to me. Seems like a high floor / low ceiling QB.

that is no where close to being the approriate future picks to get this year's pick 26.

2022 NFL Trade Value Chart (drafttek.com)

rough numbers here but next years pick are generally valued as this years pick's but one round later.

2nd and 3rd next year would be around a 3rd and 4th this year.

So,

pick 26 this year = 700

For

Round 2 next year would be like Round 3 this year = 190

Round 3 next year would be like round 4 this year =70

700 vs 260? not happening

More realistic

pick 26 this year = 700

For

Round 1 next year would be like round 2 this year = 420

Round 2 next year would be like round 3 this year = 190

Round 4 this year = 104

700 vs 714

So a more realistic trade would be pick 26 this year for our 2022 4th, 2023 1st, and 2023 2nd.

Also I usually take pick 16 of each round in future years because it is a midpoint pick. I fully realize that a future 1st rounder from us is worth more than say the KC Chiefs but the midpoint is a good starting point.  Teams might adjust slightly depending on hwo bad or good they think you are.  A team is never going to give you full value expecting you to have a top 3 pick.  What if you get lucky and win 7 to 9 games, all of sudden you might be picking around 12.

it aint about stats.  Howell didnt win a damn thing. If he cant elevate his college team in the ACC he wont elevate the panthers in the NFL

A first and second rounder is not enough to move up to 6.

There is something to say about talent level of your team, particularly in college. Just saying. Clemson, though not Bama or my alma mater, is going to have markedly more talent than UNC.

Its pretty apparent to me after reading all of the "trade back" folk's post that they dont comprehend the tru value of having a pick this high in the draft.  Its gold.  Its a chance to get an elite elite player if we dont fug it up (which we most certainly will do)

Yeah I was just stating that a move down could net us a second (and more as you stated) but we would need a QB we like to drop to round 2 with the limited ammo we have in this draft.  I don’t want to touch next years picks in any move back up from round 2 type scenario.

I am thinking we almost have to come out of this draft with a top OL.  We can’t put this off anymore
