If this team "rises from the ashes" in five years don't give the arsonist credit.

The Panthers will probably vomit their way to 1 or 2 wildcard berths this decade but otherwise be a flaming pile of trash. The people in charge don’t know how to identify winning traits in coaches or players

Disagree.

The reset should have happened the first day Tepper walked into the owner's office as the new owner.  He should have had pink slips waiting on Rivera and his staff as well as Marty Hurney.

THEN he should have done his utmost to hire an experienced GM (or a start assistant GM ready to move up) and allow that GM to hire a coach and start building the team.

Instead of getting a new set of tires on the Panther's automobile, however, all Tepper has done for years now is invest in patches and replacing individual tires as they blew.  So right now, the Panthers organization is *severely* out of balance and alignment.

Well, that's essentially a different argument, and it surely didn't preclude the reset button being reset once Rhule was hired. At either point, a reset was logical (and that's before hindsight making Huddlers appear smarter).

He said he couldn’t do that.  The business side was in such disarray that he had to focus on that first.  Would have been tough to do it all and run his business.

Obfuscation.

That's why you hire the new GM first and then allow him to do his job with all the subsequent heavy lifting.  Happens all the time in the NFL when new ownership arrives.  And, not counting expansion teams, franchises being purchased in the NFL are generally not *healthy* franchises.  Most owners or groups that own SUCCESSFUL teams are usually not interested in selling.  So Tepper isn't unique in stepping into a franchise in "disarray".  He is unique, however, in lacking the confidence to immediately do anything about it.

Maybe I am just telling you what he said.

It seemed like his first order of business was the soccer team, and retrofitting the stadium to accommodate soccer. He kept Hurney and Ron for the first two years while he dabbled in business stuff. He shoulda been on the GM search halfway through 2019 when he realized he wasn't gonna keep Ron. The Giants seem to be doing things the way we should have

Is it truly lack of confidence, or is it just not being easily given into knee-jerk reactions? Or, possibly just ignorance or arrogance? Tepper and a lack of confidence just don't seem to go together. I certainly don't believe that a lack of confidence is the reason that he hasn't canned Rhule.

Or the foresight some have had that predicted basically everything that has happened in the past two years like we had a time machine. But you are correct that many were in full tilt “love” mode with Rhule and everything he did, then suddenly acted like they never liked him.

At this point the only conclusion that can be drawn is that Tepper is clueless when it comes to overseeing the football side of an NFL franchise.

Looking at Hurney's long record of mediocrity and believing "this is the guy I want by my side to pick the next HC" is baffling to say the least.  Especially for an owner that has unlimited resources to bring in top flight NFL experts to lead the search.  Now Tepper is doubling down on Rhule, a man that has managed to lose to 7 of the last 8 coaches fired in the NFL.  No Panthers coach has ever been retained after failing to win less than 6 games.  Matt Rhule has done it twice and Tepper has failed to hold him accountable.

TL/DR:  Panthers don't so much have a coaching problem as they do an ownership problem (and that's much worse).

Seems like the smartest guy in the building is Fitt, and he's been reduced to a yes man/numbers guy. Rhule is supposedly doing the OC interviews solo, so maybe it's Tepper trying to separate GM from HC on Rhules last chance to get something right. Seems like a shrewd business guy kinda move

Yeah, um, time to really get into those Hornets.

These destructive know it all's have captured my Panthers and are determined to make them the Jets. No thanks.

Most of us legacy huddlers are as die hard as you can get but these jackasses are killing our franchise and fandom.

F' these dummies.

GO HORNETS!

You spelled Hurricanes all wrong (this coming from an Avalanche fan). The Canes are a great team, and hockey is a great sport. If you haven’t already done so, give it a shot.

Panthers were already pretty close franchise wise to the Jets…and Jags.

Now if he wants to turn us into the Lions yea f him

We've been to the Superbowl twice in thirteen years. People don't know what they had in JR AND Marty, not many will agree with that though. From the looks of it the people may want that statue from JRs backyard to go into the circle of honor in a couple years because the trajectory of this clown show indicates long term doom unless someone gets a clue.

The bottom feeders of the NFL would love such success. Some of those bottom feeders have never even had a Cam Newton or Luke Kuechly.

We've been spoiled like I've been telling the whiners on this here site for years.
