Look for big moves this offseason in free agency. Samir will be dishing out a lot of voided year contracts... and thats fine.

Its pretty clear you have no idea how void years work. I wouldn't open my mouth if i were you and remove all doubt you're an idiot.

Then just explain how you get a n extra 13M that doesn’t exist. You really want to do this?

But just like in Monopoly, you can still go broke. Lots of dead future money tied up in againg and/or injury prone players was Hurney's favorite way to accomplish it.

MH used old practices. Loomis opened the door to a ton of new exploits in the NFL salary cap. What we saw with MH was someone who didnt know what they were doing. It was obvious.

This is a good article of how Mickey has gamed the system. This is why NFL teams are moving to a multi-manager front office. Old single GM run model of an NFL franchise isnt going to last much longer.

I did a pretty detailed write up about Samir and how he has set us up for success over the coming years. He is a salary cap king. We are going to have so much wiggle room. The 29.6 million you see now is just the tip of the iceberg.

What has he ever done? Except be part of the team that has wasted tons of cap space to get an even worse team than they took over.

Don't get me wrong, there are tons of salary cap tricks available but at the end of the day you still have to target and pay the right guys. Aging and/or injury prone guys are very rarely the right guys.

He didnt though... none of the contracts he put together were more than  1 year deals with outs and small dead cap penalties with immediate cap savings. Look into every deal he has done since he has gotten here.

they dont make the deals, Samir does. That's why tepper hired him during MH's final years. He pulled MH away from money management. Also,  RA's contract is just a one year extension. He can be cut this offseason and we barely lose any money.

Samir is making the deals with the input and influence of the HC/GM.    So whoever you want to put it on.   The contracts this FO makes.

that’s a worry.  Nothing sound about Robby and Sam.  That’s not something a good FO does.

I think we got a lot more pain coming and I think we have lost sight of how lucky we were to pull of Fox and Ron windows back to back.   Those were two solid runs in reality.  It’s not Tomlin or Bill type runs.  But there is a lot worse than what we had been doing.

I agree, but "money getting tied up" is not in Samir's models. He designs outs into all of his contracts. Its impressive.

It’s always a good idea to restructure deals in a year when it’s obvious the team isn’t going to playoffs.
