Panthers just one player away.

This is a really silly argument. How many teams in the NFL are "just one player away" from contending for this or that (like... 20 of them). It's just not that simple.

I'm sure the Jets thought they were a QB away from the playoffs last season, too. Just because Favre happens to be doing awesome with the Vikings doesn't mean he could bring that kind of success to another team.

I'm willing to bet Manning or Brady could take this exact team to the playoffs, sure, but "one player away" is different from "one one-in-a-thousand-player away." And we don't have enough draft picks or luck for that.

Question. I just thought of this. When you look at our offense you say we arn't just one player away from being a great offense. You say this because you say we only have 1 WR no TE's no OLine. Ok I see where you are going.

Well the only way I can explain what I am talking about is like this;

Take the Steelers Defense, when Troy P is healthy, their defense looks to be the best. Best 3 down lineman, Best LB'rs and secondary. But take that 1 player out, Troy P, some could say the QB of the secondary and the whole defense seems to be exposed.

I hope you see the correlation. If you put a QB that was solid, has pocket presence and the ability to read a D and go thru his progressions under center for the Panthers, I really feel everyone else on the offense would be elevated.

Hey, Its my opinion, Its how I feel. :)

We only have one good receiver. We have nobody consistent at tight end. We have an offensive line that is extremely inconsistent in pass protection. We have an old injured fullback. We have an extremely inconsistent defensive line where a 36-year-old castoff from the Rams is playing more consistently than anyone else. We have less depth than we thought at linebacker and Beason is having his worst season by far. We have terrible safeties when it comes to pass coverage. And we have the worst special teams in football and the worst in franchise history. And we have absolutely zero depth at every position other than running back.

So as bad as Jake has been, we're not just one player away from being a Super Bowl contender. The personnel decisions made by John Fox and Marty Hurney have absolutely wrecked this team's future.

Wow, you were way off
