Panthers just one player away.

For those of you who say that this is BS. I would like to hear your argument on this. I only say we're one player away because when I look at the Vikings, They made one big change over the offseason, QB, Brett Favre. 1 player, who by the way is 40, has made the biggest difference on the team and their record. Lets just say Tavaras Jackson wouldn't have them where they are right now.

It really sucks to think that he had a little interest in the Panthers and we didn't look into him.

Oh well

We have no balance at all

One game away from what? Being maybe 6-4 rather than 4-6? Because I know you don't mean we're one player away from being a Super Bowl contender. There are holes all over the team and we have zero depth.

But yeah, I would have loved to have had Favre here this season. Think back to all of the Huddlers that were screaming bloody murder about how stupid it would be to bring him in here and now he's an MVP candidate.

I agree...it there anyone on this board who thinks, all things being equal, if we traded qbs with Indy, NE, NO, or SD that we WOULDN'T be at least 8-2? I'm not saying it's possible to trade for those qbs, just saying that those qbs would have us at least looking at 8-2 right now! We have lost only twice when JD wasn't the direct driving force in the defeat.

One player is what I mean. We don't have as many holes as you think. If our QB was lets say for shits n giggles, brett favre, I really feel that not only does he improve our offense, but he improves the D and ST. He does this by being a leader 1, 2 by taking a lot of pressure off those two phases of the game. Jake has put our team, and our D specifically, in bad situations. Your D can only stop a team so many times. when you turn the ball over as much as jake has. I would easily say our record would be atleast 7-3 if not 8-2 right now with a solid well above average QB

We only have one good receiver. We have nobody consistent at tight end. We have an offensive line that is extremely inconsistent in pass protection. We have an old injured fullback. We have an extremely inconsistent defensive line where a 36-year-old castoff from the Rams is playing more consistently than anyone else. We have less depth than we thought at linebacker and Beason is having his worst season by far. We have terrible safeties when it comes to pass coverage. And we have the worst special teams in football and the worst in franchise history. And we have absolutely zero depth at every position other than running back.

So as bad as Jake has been, we're not just one player away from being a Super Bowl contender. The personnel decisions made by John Fox and Marty Hurney have absolutely wrecked this team's future.

who knew who Berrian and sidney rice were at the beginning of the season. I think the WR and TE situation is better than it appears. If the QB can't get the ball there, how can you asses the talent.

The Oline has not been that bad this season. Its not their fault that Jake can't decide what to do with the ball in a timely fashion

We have a completely new DC. I give them the pass this year. your LB's are only as good as your DT's and maybe we are in need there too.

BTW - where in my initial statement did I say SB contender. 1 player away could mean a lot of things. when I posted, all I was thinking was of a winning record and winning our division and\or being a playoff contender

we all know our WRs and TEs aren't the best group in the league....

However, Jake doesn't come close getting the most out of any players on this team anymore. I would think the current bunch is stronger than any other group we have had together since the 03 bunch. The level of pathetic play Jake is at right now is beyond words.....an average QB would make this group look better.

The Vikes fit Favre perfect if you ask me. It was almost the same system as GB and really they were just one player away. Also Farvre didnt do so great in NY when he had to learn a new system.

    • You talk about keeping the shtshow alive and well in Pantherland just bring in Prime and Shedeur....
    • Elite QBs are made and need a team to work around them or you end up with a Phillip Rivers situation, at best.  Sometimes the QB is just the missing piece, or the QB finds the other factors that lift their game. You couldn't ask for a better example of both of those situations than looking at the Stafford/Goff trade between LA and Detroit. Send either of those two guys to Carolina or Cleveland and they just flop around on the turf near the 35 yard line, game after game. And as to the Texans and Commanders... those are two well coached and well-built teams. Massive turnarounds in each location, a lot of buy in by players and grabbing solid performers where they could. They got their QBs, but they also put them in the right environment. You claim I'm a 1990s football guy, I claim you're basing your evaluation more on Madden and fantasy football.
