I'm just waiting on the Darnold extension at this point to be the icing on the cake.  Fitts & Rhule thinking they're playing 4D chess by lowering Darnold's 18 million cap hit next year by extending him and guaranteeing him more money to be our backup for the foreseeable future.

We really could probably sell that he is a good back up and get a low round pick for him and eat 1/2 his salary.

Some of you people hate on Sam Darnold just because he’s not Cam Newton. He played decent for a guy with no OLINE, Wr’s running wrong routes, and a horrid coaching staff playing against the SB champs. No QB would have been successful today.

I know I'm alone but don't think he's terrible. He would be a nice backup piece of a winning franchise.

He's a backup at best same as the other two quarterbacks on our roster. This desperate need to make Sam seem less awful is downright pitiful when you consider Jets fans did this exact routine for literal years and could tell you firsthand how ridiculous you sound. Accept reality and stop shitposting.
