Poachable Coaches

With axes now officially falling and the Panthers in need of better coaching, it's good to look at the staffs of teams that are letting their coaches go.

To be clear, this is not to say that Matt Rhule would or will hire or even look at these guys, but they're available and they're good at what they do..

Starting with...

THE DENVER BRONCOS

With the Broncos announcing their decision today, here are some options from among their likely staff departures...

Head Coach Vic Fangio: solid history as a DC; was the Panthers first under Capers

Offensive Coordinator Pat Shurmur: very good OC; WCO guy; head coaching experience

Offensive Line Coach Mike Munchak: one of the best line coaches in the league; head coaching experience

Defensive Coordinator Ed Donatell: thirty plus years of NFL coaching experience; great secondary coach and good DC

Defensive Line Coach Bill Kollar: one of the better DL coaches in the league; doesn't do "soft"

Outside Linebackers Coach John Pagano: former Ron Rivera colleague; loads of experience as both a DC and an LB Coach

Quarterback Coach Mike Shula: yep, that guy; he might be a lousy OC but as a QB coach he's not bad at all

THE LAS VEGAS RAIDERS

One of the two teams that have already taken the plunge. Interim head coach Bisaccia is expected to get an interview but not expected to get the job.

Special Teams Coach Rich Bisaccia: considered one of the best special teams coaches in the league; served as the team's interim head coach after Gruden resigned

Offensive Coordinator Greg Olson: longtime OC for several teams; WCO guy

Offensive Line Coach Tom Cable: known to be a good OL coach but has his detractors; head coaching experience

Defensive Coordinator Gus Bradley: was Seahawks DC before getting a head coaching job; connected to Scott Fitterer

Defensive Line Coach Rod Marinelli: older than dirt but still consideed one of the better DL coaches around; head coaching experience

Linebackers Coach Richard Smith: another former Panther coach (LB Coach, late 2000s); coaches Jon Beason early in his career

Based on what evidence is he "not bad at all" as a QB coach?

As a QB coach he's worked with Jay Fiedler, David Garrard and Cam Newton.  He never fixed Cam's mechanical issues, despite being the guy with the best opportunity to do so.  The other two guys were the definition of JAG's.

Mike Shula is a name.  That's all.

Agree. OP loses all credibility with a opinion like that. How on earth would he know?

THE JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS

The other early entrant into the coaching derby thanks to Urban Meyer's dipsh-ttery. One thing in common among the better of these coaches is they've spent time with the Seahawks.

Offensive Coordinator Darrell Devell: Fitterer connection via his Seahawks years but didn't part on the greatest of terms if I recall correctly

Passing Game Coordinator Brian Schottenheimer: Marty's son, and another Fitterer guy (former Seahawks OC); has been a good OC...and a bad one; received head coaching consideration but never won the job

Wide Receivers Coach Sanjay Lal:  long time receivers coach who has worked with some of the best; spend a year in Seattle so Fitterer likely knows him too

Cam's early development under Shula's coaching was pretty solid. He and from looking like he had no idea what he was doing just two weeks prior to his first game to putting up a pretty solid performance.

Shula may have been out of his depth as an OC, but yes he's a good quarterback coach.
