Nice response by the boys after Calgary made it a one goal game.  We need to play better tomorrow with Florida coming to town.

Hopefully we get all the calls since we are at home like the Panthers did in our first game with them.

Hope Bear is OK.

You could tell Calgary was gonna score first they busted ass at the beginning while we didn’t really get our game set until the end of the first. But you could tell we were intent on controlling that game. I can’t say enough about our grinders. Staal may not have a goal(goals this season) but his tempo was insanely good last night. Fast is just so underrated, that dude is everywhere and always in perfect position. Lorentz grind was good. Nino is a fugging possession god.

I hate to say it but Staal probably has to be the odd man out when contracts come up again. We gotta keep Fast and Nino.

Staal is gonna be out. At this point, his production is replaceable and his contract would be too heavy when we can pay the other guys on the roster. His value is purely leadership and experience here.

He'll go to a team in need of a solid vet 3rd line center and give some solid play for a couple years before hanging it up. I'll be sad to see him go, but it's time I think.

KK is definitely a C replacement for the future for either Tro or Staal. Could see that when we made that move.

The issue with Staal is his NTC and the he still has 1 year left. We have Fast locked until Staal’s contract is up so that’s a nonissue. Tro or Nino is what it’s going to come down to this off-season. Nino is gonna have some big suitors too, probably even more so than Tro.

    • I don't care about offensive production for a team that literally only threw to him and the running back. I care about what I see on film:   Dude cannot separate on his own against talented LBs/S and had to be schemed open; his route running is below average; while pretty athletic, he doesn't have elite athleticism or speed; his blocking form has quite a few red flags (dude should be a dominant run blocker for his size). He was talented enough to get open in college against a slower LB/S; that won't be the case in the NFL. Not to mention, the dude pretty much was nonexistent until this year for Penn St. If I am drafting a TE in the top 10, choosing a 5th year senior that didn't do anything until his last season should be pretty alarming. Not saying he is going to be a bad player - I think he will be a solid short/intermediate possession TE in the NFL. I just don't understand the logic of taking him top 10
    • No one is arguing where we were on the season.  After the benching Bryce was one of the top deep ball passers in the league.  It's a skillset he has just shown he is capable of doing.  I believe he led the league in week 12 and was one of the top ones for that final quarter.  Dance around the topic and argue the stats all you want, I'm just going by what I saw on TV and read about.   https://x.com/PattonAnalytics/status/1877044086709854343 https://www.si.com/nfl/panthers/news/bryce-young-best-against-pressure-throwing-deep Hey it surprised me as well, but I'm not going to hide my head in the sand and try to ignore what is clearly right in front of me.  People have a hard time admitting their original thought may have been wrong.  That's just the world we live in.  We will see if Young can keep it up next year or not, but signs are point to DC running his offense regardless of who is QB.
    • You are right, but as of late there has been more rookie TEs making immediate impact on teams. McBride, Laporta, Kincaid and obv Bowers.  My true opinion is the team has so many holes they can go multiple directions including Safety. So it just comes down to out of all the talent in the draft who will make the immediate impact. Wr? TE? LB?
