Everyone was all ready to throw Joe Brady in front of a speeding bus but if you were paying attention you should have already known how this would play out. This putrid offense has been running exactly the way Rhule has wanted it to.

Brady wasn't great but the other options were worse. That was just CYA for Rhule and now we have more confirmation on how bad this staff is at this level.

Idk you can completely change an offense mid season. So for next year, I can see more under center play action plays.

If you can do it 26% of the time and it works, why can't you use it more?  Instead, the OC takes what is not working and uses it 74% of the time.

A great coach plays to the strengths of the QB.

If Darnold and historically Cam kill with play action then run fng play action.

Still dont think we're set outside.  Brady is a nice little player, but hes not a franchise LT.  I think Rhule is actually correct here, and hes better suited for LG, with a mauler beside him like Neal or the guy from Georgia.

And that's the part that sucks because if we had a coach with any common sense, we would have seen Brady at LT for at least half the season and we would know whether or not he should be playing there or be shifted inside. It's week 18, he's started 2 weeks and been our best LT of the season by far and we still have a huge question mark on how to proceed this offseason. If we take Neal or Cross, then we don't pick again until the 4th. More holes we cant possibly fill and BC is forced to learn a new position which isn't going to be easy. And Deonte Brown might actually be good, he sure as hell cant be worse than Miller, but we're going to use him on special teams, maybe. Why do we make poo harder than it has to be?

The decision to keep trotting Miller and Jordan out there week after week, and not even giving Brown a damn jersey on gamedays is indefensible to me.

I don't think Tepper does.

Then it's time to walk away when this is confirmed IMO. What's the point? Anyone that has been in a really bad relationship knows how good being free from that wasted life really is.

Keeping Rhule another year isn't enough confirmation of that, it's just a dumb move by someone that doesn't know what they are doing.

To be fair, I don't think JR ever cared either. Both seem to be happy or at least content as long as the team is making them money.

I know I've been beating this dead horse to death but:

This next sequence shows back-to-back plays where the Panthers need an intermediate completion but cannot execute because of all the routes run are short. The Saints know Darnold wants the ball out quickly and therefore sit on every underneath route with no fear of getting beat deep.

That is exactly what I've been saying the entire season and it is 100% completely indicative of why this staff is incompetent.  In fact, I just mentioned it in a thread yesterday...  how we saw the same garbage with Teddy, Cam, and Sam, and especially with Teddy because he had an actual solid OL and we still would run 2 yards drags on 3rd or 4th down and long.  And again, the way this offense is run, it would make the greatest QBs ever look putrid, even in their prime.  I keep screaming to the mountaintops, that Cam can still be a Top 15 QB, but this offense made him look like he shouldn't even be in a uniform against Miami.  This offense did the same thing to Teddy who is a solid middling to bottom-third starter in the league, and Sam, who is an NFL player, albeit a backup at best.  It's not the players, it's the coaches...  and for people who haven't watched it and just looked at stats, there's no way to explain that to them, but again, I have never seen anything so dysfunctional in all my years of being in and around the game of football.  It is completely unacceptable, and being that we're going on 2 years of it now, it's clear Tepper doesn't give a poo about winning.  You don't let this stuff continue at record levels of incompetence if you did.  poo has nothing to do with a process because a process implies steps are being made to improve, and we have actually gotten worse - much worse.  And again, it is all because Rhule is in over his head and has no idea what he's doing, but refuses to seek out someone who does because he doesn't want his ego threatened...  it is a complete recipe for continued and utter disaster and we're already seeing the results.

This also very well could be true, and I can see the argument being made for rolling with Brady at LT, possibly trading down some, and taking the top interior o linemen available in the middle of the first.  Perhaps the C from Iowa.  I am not up to speed much on the top college G prospects.

I was actually thinking the same thing you posted. Some people have said that trading down could actually get a decent 1st round pick and solid 2nd round pick as well. This is suppose to be a strong year for o-lineman in the draft. If we could draft two solid starters to pair with Moton and Christensen we'd be a lot better heading into 2022. And...if Deonte Brown could perform at RG, we could have the best o-line in the NFC South for the next 3-4 years.

Here's a link with a breakdown of the the top 2022 draft prospects. Four lineman, including the IOWA center you mentioned (Tyler Linderbaum) are expected to go in the top 10.

    • We could easily pick apart yesterday’s game: dropped passes, blown coverages, bad tackling and red zone issues to name a few. But it was clear that this wasn’t the same team from earlier in the season. They fought back and hung with the champs until the end. That’s what I was excited to see and it gives me hope that we’re on the right track.
    • I think BY played well today and exceeded expectations. I will temper future expectations as he has to string together many games of consistent quality. One game doesn’t convince me that he is a franchise QB or even a guy you want to stick with for another season. One game doesn’t erase all the negative play and limitations from the past couple of years. I hope he balls out and continues to get better but for me the verdict is still out   That said, I think he gave the team and fans hope yesterday which is a lot more than what we had when we woke up Sunday morning.
    • He was vastly improved today and we need to see more of Bryce the rest of the season to continue evaluate him in order to decide what the heck to do with him at the end of the season. He must play at least like this and improve more from here the rest of the season in order for me to keep him. No more 123 yard passing games and want to see at least this output weekly from him. If this is Bruce improving slowly over time then Canales is even better with developing QB's than I thought he was but still too early to tell and we need to see him the rest of the way as he has at very least earned back the starting gig moving forward.
