I swear to god if I hear another "Jake is not bad he's average" shtick again...

I agree with everything minus, Meeks, Jarret, Munnerlyn, Peppers unless he's signed here, there is no reason for him to tie us down again *Cap-Wise*

Like it's been said Meeks is being dealt the unfortunate hand here missing Maake, losing Davis and also having an inconsistent Pass-Rush he's done a damn fine job and really wouldn't be to upset if he's nominated HC (pipeman's dream I know)

Dwayne Jarret in flashes has shown us what he can be, a 3rd and short threat, over the middle threat, and a great blocker. It's not his fault our offensive play calling is inept, and our QB sucks...no offense

Captain has been playing extremely well for a 7th round, terribly undersized CB, he tackles well and plays good coverage...But he should be taken of PR ASAP!

Are you serious? We're a QB and a WR away from being a real contender.

I'd agree with this is there were a realistic chance we would add an elite QB in the offseason. They're not available. We're not drafting high enough to have a likely chance of drafting one.

That being the case, we need far more than a QB and a WR. The margin for error will be thin again, and due to that we're far away from the depth necessary to contend (note how bad our special teams are). I imagine we'll begin rebuilding next year, and hopefully be back in the playoff mix in 2 or 3 seasons.

In no order...

Jake Delhomme- He is done...he is worse than Chris Wienke. He isn't capable of leading this team down the field, when the game is on the line, therefore, he shouldn't be an NFL QB..simple as that.

Not sure anyone other than Fasani falls in same category as Weinke, but yeah, Delhomme's better days appear behind him and the Panthers desperately need to find their next signal caller along with some better depth.

Julius Peppers- 1 Million dollars a game....maybe he will show up, maybe he won't..thats not going to cut it.

If we can't sign him to a long-term deal this offseason, trade him for whatever constitutes fair compensation aka the best deal we can get.

Jeff Davidson-His Horrendous play calling has lost us 3 games (Buf, NE,Mia)...

Personally, I think Davidson's playcalling is severly limited by our HC's ultra-conservative philosophy and Jake's crappy QB play. I would love to see what he could do w/o those two handcuffing his creativity; however, Davidson's future with the Panthers may very well depend on what happens to Fox.

Ron Meeks- 30 rush Defense in the league...enough said. Injuries are no excuse. Our defense has always been good, regardless if guys were hurt (they were) or not..

See above. The Defense has performed much better under Meeks in his first year. With better personnel on DL and LB (particularly at SLB) our run defense will improve and I could see us consistently being a top-ten defense. His future may likewise be linked to what happens to Fox at season's end.

Dwayne Jarret- I've seen enough. He can't catch...he can block, but he isn't a lineman...c ya

I would trade DJ for a 3rd or 4th this coming offseason. It's not that I think he's a bust; he hasn't been given the chance IMO to warrant that label. He needs to go to a team that will develop him and allows him to play to his strengths (he was a good red zone threat at USC, not sure why we don't try to use him similarly with the problems we've had there this season). I just don't see that happening here. A new regime may find a way to use him better, but three years is long enough and I think a change would benefit Jarrett and the team.

One of our TWO FBs- Epic way to take up a roster spot..get rid one one please..

Not sure I totally agree here, especially the way nagging injuries have hampered our primary FB. With Hoover approaching the end of his career, and our dependence on the FB in the running game, I think it was a smart move to draft Hoover's eventual replacement for the future. Fiammetta was the best FB coming out last year and comes from a program that historically produces good FBs. Another year of experience should benefit him greatly.

Capitan Munnerlyn -..he is the slowest kick returner in the NFL by far. I don't think he has gotten past the 35 on any KR this year.....we could find a better FS in the draft/FA...

Agree that we definitely need a new KR/PR (though Sutton has looked good of late on KR). However, with a good offseason of strength and conditioning I believe "The Captain" will be a good nickel for us and a fixture in our secondary for awhile. Who knows...another year of experience may help him as a PR as well (though I wouldn't want to chance it).

JOHN FOX-...Sorry...but its over. He took us to the SB..but his decision to stick with Jake is going to get him fired...He is a good coach, and will find work somewhere else, but its time to move on...there are to many better options out there...

100% agree here (though it wouldn't suprise me if JR let him coach out his contract which expires after 2011). A good guy and a players' coach, Fox has done alot for the Panthers during his 8 years. However, consistency, focus and attitude have far too often been major drawbacks. His playcalling and game management haven't improved during his time here IMO. JR said he wants our team to mirror the Steelers; I'm not sure Fox is the coach that will bring us to that level. Too often the team has been ill-prepared and lack the aggressiveness needed to be a top-level team. It's time for a change.

Jake Delhomme - I agree...I don't even want him as a back-up. He'll be making too much. Eat the cap hit and cut him.

Julius Peppers - Try to sign him long-term as he is the only real threat on our D-line. If not, let him go

Jeff Davidson - Yes...let him go

Ron Meeks - Meeks has gotten a bad rap. I think he has done a good job with our defense. No one expected our defense to be dominant. Meeks has done well...the players has got to do better(tackling) and the offense has got to stop creating turnovers. Let him get another year with the defense without Fox tweaking crap into prevent mode when we get a lead.

Dwayne Jarret - Let him prove himself in training camp with a different QB

Two FBs- Both should stay

Captain Munnerlyn - Should stop returning kicks, that's all.

John Fox - Should be 1st one gone as soon as the season is over.

It is apparent that most people on here do not have the business sense to run a lemonade stand.

Your solution with Jake is to take the Cap Hit and cut him. What about the 20M guaranteed money he is owed. So we should pay him $20M and send him on his way....then go out and hire another BU QB. Ridiculous.

Demote him if you wish....but if you are going to pay him anyway, you should keep him as a BU.

- Munnerlyn should just not do kick returns. He is a really good physical corner, and will get better. Sutton should be the FB and KR.

- Add Danny Crossman. that POS should be fired the very second our season ends. ST has sucked for the last few years.

- People will hate me for this, but this is JOHN FOX'S OFFENSE. Is it a coincidence that the year after Dan Henning left he had success in Miami? Whether good or bad, Fox's conservative approaches over rules anything Davidson would ever call. Our offense has looked the same for 8 years.

Fixed. And I agree Crossman should be on the first thing smokin' after the season ends. We've been in the bottom of the NFL on ST for too long.

Did someone in this thread actually say that we could get a 3rd or 4th round pick for Dwayne Jarrett?

Guilty...yeah, I know most you wouldn't trade him for a hamburger, but I think we could at least get a 4th out of him. He's still young and very underutilized in our offense. Not saying he's a Pro-Bowler, but he's got potential to be a good player in the right scheme IMO.

    • You talk about keeping the shtshow alive and well in Pantherland just bring in Prime and Shedeur....
    • Elite QBs are made and need a team to work around them or you end up with a Phillip Rivers situation, at best.  Sometimes the QB is just the missing piece, or the QB finds the other factors that lift their game. You couldn't ask for a better example of both of those situations than looking at the Stafford/Goff trade between LA and Detroit. Send either of those two guys to Carolina or Cleveland and they just flop around on the turf near the 35 yard line, game after game. And as to the Texans and Commanders... those are two well coached and well-built teams. Massive turnarounds in each location, a lot of buy in by players and grabbing solid performers where they could. They got their QBs, but they also put them in the right environment. You claim I'm a 1990s football guy, I claim you're basing your evaluation more on Madden and fantasy football.
