What if, hear me out, Tepper knows this is a lame duck situation and knew that everything was going to poo right, and decided to ride it out because he knew things were not going to get better so he's letting this poo simmer for a bit just to get a high draft pick so his next HC will have something to work with? Meaning he's porbably going to choose HIS own QB and work with FITT?

Eh too much logic.

Tepper is only smart with money, let’s not give him to much knowledge!

The biggest worry from this was that other teams could jump ahead of us for the best candidates if we didn't move quickly.

Granted that could still happen, but at least so far, nobody's "moving" at all (except seemingly Jacksonville).

we can get whoever we want...all it takes it cash....and we got plenty of that

It’s just odd no HCs went yesterday.

Covid has teams duct taping themselves to keep from falling apart the last couple weeks and just be able to play.  Saints, Chargers, Rams, etc.  We had to close down yesterday.

that could be a factor why coaches just get to ride this one out.  Hard to add on to the struggle of this current covid outbreak that is hammering teams…by firing the HC on top of all that.

"Cash" got us Matt Rhule.

And let's be real, every team has cash. I realize there are fans here who think David Tepper is some kind of mythic godfather figure or something, but he's really not.

More to the point though, some of these guys are more driven by competitiveness and winning than greed and money. Hell, when we were hiring a GM, Ed Dodds from the Colts (one of the better candidates we had) took himself out of the running. And I doubt that was about money. More likely about having to answer to a college coach (smart man).

But most of all, money doesn't make anyone smart. So what if you overpay when the guy you're overpaying is sh-t? How's that any different from where we are now?

Again, if David Tepper is this kingfish who gets anything he wants, why is it that four years into his reign we're still losing?

I do not see a way clear with Rhule to continue.    Looking at this systematically

offense

1. Offensive system will have to change He has spent two years with the joe Brady offensive system, that’s going to be thrown out as either this team can’t do it or it just does not work

2  offensive coaches need to change    His buddies aren’t cutting it and that is top to bottom

       Con
No point in keeping something that’s not working with cheerleader as HC

            Churn for the players

Defense

1   Chose speed over bulk instead of doing a balance

2  player regression

Con   Bigger bodies needed   Better scheme needed   Players regressing

Special teams

Draw   Found kickers  return game and coverage nothing to write home about

Coaching
Con. Out coached and out schemed in almost all games

Personnel & Salary cap

             Con.  Failed on many levels

Bottom line.   If I am David Tepper, why in God’s name do I continue this?   Do I continue giving this guy the keys to my 2.8 billion dollar franchise because in college he made two mediocre schools slightly better than average?   I just don’t see it

these are the same questions I ask myself in preparation for that March invoice.

    • Yeah and he succeeded at an even higher level in LA with an even better surrounding cast. Goff is a guy that isn't really able to dramatically elevate players around him but he can make a good situation even better. He is capable of that. Some QB's aren't. I am not sure Dak is able to do that and he is in a similar "class" as Goff, IMO.
    • i think i could handle that for a year. beyond that....i don't know.  back where we lived, when we had a few inches of snow, it might have been a couple feet because we weren't getting out and doing anything. i remember times where power would go out for days on end. we had propane and electric heat, depending on the floor. basement (had a couple bedrooms and a living room and kitchen down there) and main floor had gas logs. main floor gas logs was enough to take care of the upstairs, so we could stay warm and cook on the grill when we needed. we had a well so that was always an issue when the power went out. had to make sure tubs were filled with water for the toilets and we had gallons of water for drinking and cooking available. always had to make sure we were ready. that wasn't always the case. we had a couple moments where we were going through propane quickly and because we were dealing with the worst propane company in the world (amerigas) they wouldn't get out to put gas in our 900 gallon tank. made for some nerve racking moments.  i know y'all were probably a lot more able to handle that kind of thing, but after the little bit (comparatively) that we got here i just have no desire to get trapped again. maybe for a day or two a year get snowed in and i'm good.
    • I think he is just drawing a DC to them line and that's about as far as his thought process went. It makes almost no sense outside of that. Also, it doesn't make sense for Pittsburgh or Seattle at this juncture either.  I think our "veteran" pool is basically gonna be the Dalton/Flacco tier or the "pick your poison" options of young busts(Jones/Z. Wilson) or wild, TO prone gunslingers(Darnold/Winston/etc). We have the option to pursue I genuinely believe(depending on the way the rest of this season goes), we either draft a QB in the top 10 or resign Dalton. Outlier third option on taking one of the wild gunslingers that Dave feels like he can work with.
