The Official Fox Thread....

[after reading this, i'm leaning more towards what can fox do with a better than average QB?]

I have to say I agree with you. Jake has done well in the past, but it is time to go. I don't think he can correct the problem with what he has to work with. Fox has not proven to be a bad coach, but just slightly above average. I would like to see what Fox could do if we had a top rated QB. I'm not ready to give Fox a 4 year contract. Maybe a years extension to see what can happen.

I'd say the same thing here I said in the other.

There comes a point sometimes where a coach and team have gone as far as they can with each other. When such a time comes, separation can actually be mutually beneficial.

Fox could conceivably go on to a new team and take them to victory while a new coach could come in here and accomplish what Fox hasn't. Tampa and Dungy were a prime example of this, though if we go this route I hope we pick a better successor than Gruden.

I'm ready to blow the thing up. New coach, new gm and a new QB.

With 6 games to play, and just 2 games under 500? That's a little much. If you blow it up now you're basically signing up for years of mediocrity with a hope of being a playoff team by 2015.

Sure we aren't in playoff contention, but that doesn't mean heads need to roll. We're less than a week removed from people chastising the franchise for dumping Dan Henning after a mediocre season. Imagine the reaction if we clean house and Fox goes to a team with a QB and Hurney goes to a team with a bigger free agent drawing power, and we end up with the next College-turned-pro coach, or better yet, the next supposed-to-be-great young coordinator who flops while our bright young stars get old and injured. Hindsight can be a biznatch.

a very well written article.

i've been on the fence about how i feel about fox staying or going. he has done so much for the franchise, yet it's just shy of good enough.

The question is "Where is the QB coming from?" The Draft? Fox doesn't play rookies most of the time, so I really doubt he would put a rookie QB in. A FA QB? Really, who would be available next year?? I look around the NFL, I really don't see any BU QBs that are worth a damn in the NFL. We are hurting, and the NFL is hurting for decent QBs. We have Matt Moore, but will he play next year? This season is over and we won't see him play this year. Fox will be here next year, and most likely with Jake as the QB...

    • What's wrong with what he wants to do? Going to the wrong organization can ruin your career. Many of you would do the same if you could dor your son's.
    • I think they should just end the drama and tell him he's playing for his next team. Full stop. This week to week "do they, don't they", "will they, won't they" stuff is crazy.  Maybe Shanahan will trade one of their 3rds for him rather than pay Purdy the big dollars--he's certainly on the list of coaches I think would say, "They're just not using him right". Plus Lynch already knows the Panthers' price list. Bryce can head back home to California and Carolina can continue its neverending quest to replace Cam.
