Good article from Gantt concerning the team's status...

A year ago, they were wondering what was wrong with Julius Peppers. Now, he's sitting on 13.5 sacks and five forced fumbles and the only question is whether he wants to come back, because the money's not an issue on either side.

Yet there are still people here wanting Peppers gone.

Maybe it's a "either Trgo goes or I do" kinda thing :D

That's ridiculous. I guarantee you that the players have a hell of a lot more respect for Trgo than most of our fan base does. Just look at the defensive FA's the Panthers have signed in the last 5 years. There is not an unsatisfied customer in the bunch, unless it was because the Panthers wouldn't re-sign for the money they wanted. Kris Jenkins is probably the one exception, and he will probably be pissed off at the Jets in a year or two when they cut him for being too damned lazy and fat.

Seriously,, how could you possibly know anything about what the players think about Trgo. I have only heard a few players come out to defend him and I doubt that this team would kick him to the curb either. Free Agents come here for the money or to play for a winning team. There are likely some who don't like him but aren't going to say anything. Anyone who has ever played sports knows that. You don't criticize the coach and play unless you are an extreme talent who the coach will play because he has to not because he wants to. And frankly we don't have many of those players on our team.

Don't tell me that you haven't considered that one reason Peppers hasn't signed is because he doesn't want to play for this defense. Both sides have admitted it wasn't about the money so what could it be? Just waiting until the end of the season? Waiting for what? Maybe to see if we keep winning or bend until we break.

No, I honestly haven't. If you could show me one shred of evidence that would lead me to believe that there was an ounce of truth to this suggestion though, I would consider it.

It's funny that how you contradict yourself.

I don't have any evidence nor do you. But I am not using the term guarantee or in any way suggest I have insider knowledge. As I said I don't know that Peppers feels one way or the other. But it is surely a viable possibility since money isn't. Some of us read between the lines a lot better than others who refuse to consider anything that doesn't fit into their preconceived notions or ideas.

Maybe using the term "guarantee" is a little strong, but can you find me one defensive player that has left the Panthers in the last 5 years that has complained about how Trgovac coaches? Even Kris Jenkins has never said anything against Trgovac before or after he left, and if there is any former Panthers player that would do it, it would be him. Therefore, I don't think it's much of a stretch at all to assume that Trgo's players respect him.

Meanwhile, it's a huge stretch to make the assumption that Peppers might not want to re-sign with the Panthers specifically because of Trgovac. There are many many reasons why NFL contracts tend to take some time that have nothing whatsoever to do with who the DC is.

How many players either current or former have said they like Trgovac or think he has done a great job either? Those arguments are fruitless. Professionals don't do that anymore than most people complain publicly about one boss after they move to another. Most of the bitching is done in private and you won't hear about it. Deosn't change the fact that most people who leave are unhappy. It does't have to be the DC personally. It could be the scheme philosophy, how he is being used. But as I said, no proof either way at this point and if he leaves we won't ever likely know. Still it could be true. I hope it isn't of course because whether Trgo stays or leaves we need Peppers to continue here.

I've heard quite a few former and current Panthers players say that they like this defense, including Peppers himself. He has said it many times.

What really gets me though, is that so many Panthers fans seem to hate Trgovac and always want to blame him first, even though we all know damn well that he's not running any schemes that Fox doesn't approve of. It doesn't take much "reading between the lines" at all to figure that part out.

What really gets me, though, is how much complaining this fanbase does.

The Panthers are 11 and 4; chill out.

Exactly. We are a legitimate Super Bowl contender with a defense that's top ten in the league in points allowed and an offense that has been scoring about 30 points a game for the last month or so. For the life of me, I can't figure out how people can look at this situation, and come to the conclusion that somebody needs to be fired.

They have uninteresting, apparently boring and stressful lives and instead come here to piss and moan to release the stress.

I do too.
