I thought that is how we decide who wins and loses...

It is.

It is not, however, the metric they use to determine top overall defense. That's based on yards.

Pretty sure of you check the rankings for points given up, you'll find we're ranked somewhat lower than second.

The unit itself doesn’t suck.  You are correct there.  However, situationally they are vulnerable to a power attack, virtually nullifying the most potent aspects of the system.  Pass rush and coverage.

If you can’t stop the run, you won’t see many passes.  Hence the inflated pass d statistics.

Its flawed therefore ineffective or as previously stated, they suck.

My point is the fact that our defense has done as well as they have given the fact that our offense gives the opposition the ball back over and over and over should not be over looked.  This teams woes are not on that side of the ball.  How can you watch these games and not see that?

You are correct but people have knee jerk reaction to anything positive  because we want the team burned to the ground for sucking so bad. They definitely do not look like a top defense to me….but they are light years ahead of our offense which is about as bad as it gets.

That's right...that's why we are the 19th ranked defense in the NFL

Where the fug do these fools come from saying we are the 2nd ranked defense...its been a long time since week 3 you fools.

If you are out here blaming or smacking the defense just stop and think for a second.  They are # 2 in the NFL and our offense is almost dead last.  What they have been able to do this season in reality is a fuging miracle considering our turnovers, inability to complete a forward pass and losing the best player on the team....again.

They have good overall numbers but situationally they are terrible. How many 3rd and longs have we given up. How many three and outs. Tampa has 60% of their offense out today and they have 250 yards in the first half and almost 100 in the ground. Absolutely the defense is terrible due to  a crappy scheme even though our personnel might be pretty good. You clearly see but don't understand.

Don't base your judgment of any NFL unit on a statistical ranking.

Anything other than stats is just an opinion and is probably flawed.   That being said, its clear the team (with one or two exceptions) has given up and is already thinking about the offseason.

    • The other draft picks have turned out pretty well. Brooks will too.
    • I'm still not touching Hunter He again said the other day that he plans on playing both sides of the ball in the NFL.  If he is allowed to do that, he won't be as good on either side as his potential and he's going to have serious injury issues and have a short career.  If he's not allowed to do it, I think he's going to become a problem when the team isn't winning as he's going to feel him not being used on both sides of the ball is why. He's being coddled in that environment with Deion and I think it's doing a disservice to him to prepare him for life in the NFL where your coach isn't a 2nd father to you, to where you can just walk into his locker room and steal his shoes like Hunter does to Deion.
    • He’s a tad behind them. Around 15ish of 32 starters in the league. He’s well ahead of a lot of guys. Tua, Bryce, Cousins (present), Rodgers (current), Devito/Jones, Minshew, Russ (current), Watson, Smith, Carr, T Laws deep ball is weak as poo IMO, there’s plenty. And it’s not like everyone is ripping 60+ers. The key component is if you can rip and maintain velocity of the 30-40 yarders which he does super well. Legit every report out there from Brugler to PFF to PFN document him as good/above average arm strength.  Eye test tells me it’s pretty much that as well, slightly above average.
