For Panther fans in Tank Mode

 

Atlanta (6-8) over Detroit (2-11-1):  Detroit is unlikely to win 3 games this season, and Atlanta beats the Panthers in a tie-breaker (weaker Strength of Schedule), so they are less than one game ahead of the Panthers--a win of any kind pushes Atlanta (if they lose out) ahead of the Panthers.  A Falcon win today puts them ahead of the Panthers by 2 games (assuming a Panther loss today) with 2 to play.

LA Rams (10-4) over Minnesota (7-7):   The Rams are the pick here because Tampa Bay needs to have a reason to play hard vs. the Panthers week 18.  With Dallas, LA Rams, and Tampa Bay all one game behind Green Bay, a logjam creates a reason to win for the top 4 teams.

NY Giants (4-10) over Philadelphia (7-7):  A Panther loss today and a Giants win puts the Panthers ahead of the Giants for the 2022 draft (based on Strength of Schedule) with 2 to play.  The Giants and Bears (4-10) play week 18, and both have stronger SOS than the Panthers, so any wins by a 4-win team are appreciated.

Chicago (4-10) over Seattle (5-9):  Seattle and the Panthers are tied with 5 wins with the Panthers getting the edge in a narrow tie breaker at the moment (Strength of schedule).  The Bears' strength of schedule would favor the Panthers if they were tied at the end of day.  Seattle plays Detroit in Seattle next week, so the Seahawks are likely to end the season with at least 6 wins--7 if they beat Chicago today.  Hope for the Bears to win because it would move Carolina higher in the draft.  NOTE: The Bears finish with the Giants and Vikings--so if the Panthers lose out and the Giants and Bears keep the stronger SOS, both could finish higher than the Panthers if all three finish 5-12. The Giants and Bears (4-10) play week 18, and both have stronger SOS than the Panthers, so any wins by a 4-win team are appreciated.

Dallas (10-4) over Washington (6-8):  This seems odd, but hear me out.  Washington has a game lead over the Panthers with the stronger Strength of Schedule.  WFT finishes with Philly and NY Giants.  They are likely to get a win over the last two weeks.  The Panthers best chance for a win could be vs. Tampa Bay resting players and avoiding injuries week 18.  Dallas and Tampa Bay have identical 10-4 records (along with the Rams).  We want the Bucs to have a reason to win, and Dallas/LA Rams/Tampa Bay and possibly Green Bay fighting for the best seeding favors teams playing hard week 18.

Tampa Bay (10-4) over Carolina (5-9):  I see losing out as acquiring draft Capital, giving us options on draft day.  Yes we could win out and hang an 8-9 banner for 2021, or we could lose out and add a second round offensive lineman.  I think we will trade back and grab a first rounder and a second rounder---possibly both OL.  If Christensen plays well at LT (I hope he starts today) it could be that the Panthers grab a QB instead, so picking as high as possible gives us options. Any Panther win now is like kissing your sister--yes it was a female but no, it does not count.

If you want Rhule gone, you want to put Tepper through three more weeks of losses.

Detroit is trending up. Atlanta is trending...not up (for this season anyway).

Rams and Cowboys likely win easily enough. Eagles and Seahawks probably win.

Does anyone know where the Panthers can currently pick at the highest vs. lowest yet?

After this week, we likely will be mathematically eliminated from the #1 overall pick. I don't expect the Jags, Texans, nor Jets to really turn things around either.

#5 seems to be the goal if trying to look on the bright side of another ass beating.

Best we can do is 3. Lowest we can go is probably 9 even if we win one of the last 2.

It is just you--dont know what you see---oh, and I should add that  It is anatomically correct from my perspective.

6 if we lose out. With Houston and NYJ winning today the 3rd pick is still in play. They will need to lose at least one more game and then it will depend on the reverse SOS tiebreaker.
