1) Comparing Rhule's Baylor and Temple teams to the 80s Hurricanes is laughable. Rhule was known more for re-building failed programs than for coaching elite ones. Big difference.

2) Jimmy Johnson built his Dallas dynasty largely via the insane haul from the Herschel Walker trade. No player today short of Patrick Mahomes would net even close to that many picks, much less a RB. Jimmy got a king's ransom for a RB; Rhule traded multiple picks for Sam Darnold.

3) As we saw years later with Barry Switzer, practically any functional coach could have had success with a team as stacked as Dallas in the early 90s.

Yes, rebuilding, but into what?

It's fair to say the teams where Rhule coached did get better, but did any of them really become champions or perennial contenders or anything like that during his time?

In the end, his actual profile is that of a guy who can somewhat improve your team and then move on.

This is such bull crap. He spent four years at Temple and three at Baylor. He took Temple from a two win team his first year to a two-time division champ in a four year period. He took Baylor from a one win team riddled from the Art Briles scandal to an 11 win team in the Sugar Bowl in his third and final year. If those two rebuilds are “somewhat improv[ing]” a team, you and those like you were never going to give Rhule a fair shake.

Johnson brought in his entire staff from Miami, he did not do a hodgepodge of guys that he worked with at his many different stops and a OC he had no familiarity with. 

We were setup to fail when Rhule gained full control over everything. Its Chip Kelly all over again, except Chip was a better coach than Rhule is.

This team was not setup to fail with Rhule it’s just that certain fans want instant success and if they don’t get that they want to blow things up again. This happened to Cleveland for almost 15 years and is still happening because they listened to idiot fans.

JJ won at the highest level in college though. Miami back then is way different some mid-major school that Rhule coached. Miami was basically an NFL team back then

There may be some truth to this, but I don't think you can blame the fans for some of the head scratching moves.  Cutting Cam, signing Bridgewater, trading Bridgewater, then trading for Darnold, only to bring Cam back, trading draft picks and Arnold for Henderson, etc...  I think that fans would have been far more understanding if they had truly went for a rebuild, instead of this odd mix of building for a future while trying to win now.

You do get that in the modern  NFL with salary cap issues, the only two things a coach has to work with to make the roster better are 

1. Cash against the cap

2. Draft choices 

and the two most important positions are LT and QB 

Forget about his fuging up in the game itself, what has Rhule done to make any of those things better ? 

I’ll wait right here for your precise answer 

dont bring fritterer into it.  He is the trigger man for Rhule abb no s nothing more 

for me, this is business not personal. If he were competent, his personal agendas would not matter to me

I haven’t even looked through all of Rhule’s collegiate seasons, but this is wrong. His Baylor teams beat ranked Oklahoma State teams two years in a row.

So winning at the highest level in college football with what was, by all accounts of athletic ability, an NFL team is better than turning around a historically terrible Temple team and a scandal ridden Baylor team? Common sense suggests that turning around those two teams would be significantly harder than recruiting top notch players to a top notch program in a top notch location and then winning with them.

My point was the Miami locker room was probably similar to an NFL locker room as opposed to these smaller programs. This helped JJ succeed in the NFL
