Rhule isn’t to blame for Cam

So Cam hasn't won as a starter returning to the Panthers............but gives them the best chance..

Well Rhule you're up next..............what says you if that is the case?

Hell, with those opponents, Cam could've done that, and I believe wholeheartedly would have won two to four of the ones that Darnold lost.

Cam mist definitely ha snot looked like 2015 Cam and I think we all can agree that he probably won't because he is definitely in the twilight of his career and the injuries have most definitely mounted up on him. With that said though how come NO QUARTERBACK has looked decent under Rhule at all? How come Teddy looked mediocre with us yet went to Denver and though not a world beater has looked better out there away from Rhule? Yes is agree Cam doesn't have much left in the tank any longer but Rhule is LOTS to blame for all their bad QB play from all our guys. Hell, even though I don't think Darnold is an NFL starter if he goes to another team with half way competent coaching I bet he looks like a solid backup. It starts with Rhule and with the offensive line he has built to protect our QB's it's no wonder they all look like ass out there. Rhule wanted "full control" over personnel so Rhule is very much to blame for Cam's struggles. Rhule built the weak foundational wall that is supposed to protect Cal and all the other QB's. This all very much falls on Rhule as he is our leader who had to have so much control. You want full control? Well cool then but be prepared to accept full responsibility of it does not work out well with personnel chosen on the field. Instead Rhule deflects blame and throws our players under the bus in press conferences. That is a pure sign of a bull poo leader. He needs to go.

Actually four you are forgetting the ATL game. I don't see the purpose of this exercise though. The team overall was much different the first couple of games. Our defense was one of the top rated units. We also had a healthy CMC who was getting 30 touches a game and heavily relied upon in those wins. This team is going nowhere long term until the staff is upgraded though.

In Rhule's tenure here:

We've had Teddy Bridgewater, a cautious but Pro Bowl QB, who had done really well at New Orleans filling in for Drew Brees. Teddy was completely underutilized and underperformed. He offered up at the end of the year that the team did not really practice red zone or two minute drills. Woof.

We brought in Sam Darnold. Former top draft pick who had a good season and then seemed to suffer terribly from being on a bad team. He came out of the gates with some good performances, but then just got murdered out there and became a fearful interception machine. Never complained, but was thrown under the bus by former Jets teammate Robby Anderson. Coach never came to his defense, coordinator never created new plays. Team never developed offensive line, just a series a semi-mobile speed bumps. Receivers didn't catch Covid, but all brought down with the dropsies. Mercifully benched to IR.

Brought Cam Newton, former face of the franchise, multiple pro bowls, league MVP and all around never say die guy, back to the team. Win a couple then the complete lack of game planning around his capabilities leads to firing of "wunderkind" offensive coordinator. Ongoing games are becoming an embarrassment for Newton and his fans. QB doesn't have the arm he used to, but few of his remaining talents are used with any sense of rhyme or reason.

Lastly, we have PJ Walker whose claim to quality in the QB room is pretty much he went to Temple and he goes way back with Coach Rhule. No amount of history with the coach will write a good story about Walker's capabilities. He has either learned nothing or has learned everything from Rhule -- neither makes for a good QB. Or even a fair one. Might make it in arena league play.

In two seasons, Rhule has had access to two Pro Bowl QBs, three experienced starting QBs, three first round draft pick QBs, two playoff QBs, one Super Bowl QB, one league MVP QB, and some dude that played at Temple. He's had them at every age. He's had experienced QBs. He's had top of the heap draft picks. Newton, Bridgewater and Darnold have all shown they are tough and take hits. They've all had the tools to score touchdowns. 

Rhule and Co. Should have been able to do so much more with the raw materials, heck top rate materials, that he was given. After the dust clears, it's time to face the fact that the Coach can't coach.

In my opinion, when Rhule traded for Darnold, and was unwilling to draft either Fields or Jones, he essentially bet his future on a guy who had failed in NY.  Darnold succeeding here was a longshot and a huge gamble on Rhule's part.  A gamble he lost.  Signing Cam was a move that had little chance of paying off, but it was low risk, so why not.  But he has failed as well, and due to those failures, Rhule should be looking for another job after the season is over.   

 

Hopefully Tepper learned his lesson and hires an NFL coach.  Preferably one who puts a staff in place to develop the qb that we should be drafting.  

It will be interesting to see if the new staff (and god I hope there is a new staff) signs Cam for another year to work in a new QB, or lets Darnold go out there and get beat up while the new guy holds  a clipboard and they try to make the oline better.

Can win consistently if you OL sucks.  Our franchise has been the model of this for years.  When will the folks who run the place realize that?  Tom Brady with Aaron Rodgers backing him up could be in our QB room and we'd still suck.

Draft the best OL we can.

Then if it fails we are sitting pretty to draft in 23.

Rhule is to blame for not giving Cam, or ANY QB a chance to succeed. That said, they’ve all been trash and are not the answer, so yea he didn’t ruing the QB, just the circumstance.

Lord help us if he is allowed to get his hands on a rookie with actual potential. Then he’d have his shot to ruin his chances AND the development of a QB.

Just another reason Rhule needs to be gone because poo won’t happen until they draft a QB this or next year.
