If we tear it all down again how long would it take...

So lets say we tear it all down..fire rhule. We hire the next big thing coach..hit on most of our draft picks the next 2 years. How long realistically would it take to get back the to superb owl?

How far away are we with our core and good coaching?

Would you be ok with going through a losing season next year as long as rhule is gone to get a good pick?

What is best case scenario W-L record for our potential rookie coach next year?

What would be your first steps as new coach?

3-4 years. Fire Rhule and staff. Trade off anything of value for draft pics verses throwing out mega contracts to early. Focus on cap space and draft pics. Get the oline right before going ham on a QB and skill positions. Pray the QB picked is a franchise one and not a turd.

If a coach doesn't get us to the playoffs in 2 years, he likely won't. If he won't get us to the Superbowl in 3, it likely won't happen and definitely won't happen if it doesn't happen in 4.

No coach should be given a contract more than 4 years. 2 years is more than enough time to judge whether he's building something good.

Point is, it shouldn't take 3 years to build a good team.

When Rhule/Tepper said this was a 5 year rebuild that should have been a red flag

just off the top of my head in recent memory

-Rams went from 1st overall pick to Super Bowl with 2 years in between

-49ers went from 2nd overall pick to Super Bowl the next season

-Cardinals went from 1st overall pick to leading their division as of today with 2 years in between

-Bengals went from 1st overall pick to leading their division as of today with 1 year in between

-Browns went from 1st overall pick to divisional round with 2 years in between

To get to the Super Bowl we are looking at three to four years and it depends on finding a game changer at QB.

The OL can be built in a couple years and hopefully during those two years you find a franchise QB. Assuming our franchise QB’s rookie year is playoff year and his second year is a Super Bowl year, we’re looking at 3-4 years depending on when we draft a QB (this year or next year).

Drafting a QB this year - 3 years

Next Year - 4 years

While I see the Huddle is split, it looks like some are finally coming around to the idea that it doesn't take all that long to rebuild in the NFL unless you've truly created a mess with your salary cap.  Our salary cap over the next two years is looking good.

If you put a quality coach in this locker room, continue to draft well and most of all find a QB, this team can compete for playoffs in the next two years.  We can be over .500 next year.
