You Have So Much To Learn Season 2 GIF by BET Plus

There were 3 turnover on downs prior to late in the 4th quarter and only 2 of them were in field goal range, with Buffalo getting the ball at their own 24 and 15 yard lines, aka right where they'd be after post-FG kickoffs had Carolina kicked. The third was when they chose to go for it at the 50. Your assertion is simply incorrect.

Cam looks like he's done as a QB, so, since he is under contract, would it be worth while playing him at TE? I know this is the fantasy of a fan who never actually played football, but if Cam and Tremble lined up as TEs for wither Sam or CJ, they would give some help to the OL and viable receiving threats.

Cam is clearly willing to take a hit.

Name me a QB better than Cam that won't need to be groomed for 3 years?

There aren't many good options at QB. I wanted Carson Wentz. When I see a better option at QB than Cam available, I will let you know. Coaching upgrade is much easier than a QB upgrade over Cam atm.

My offensive core 5 I wanted to be building around in 2021 were Carson Wentz (trade), CMC (draft), Jonathan Taylor (draft), Hunter Henry (draft), and Stefon Diggs (draft).  I didn't get it my way, but I enjoy watching the players I wanted the Panthers to select succeed in the NFL. I would have stayed with Newton if I couldn't get Wentz. Instead, we ended up with Gross-Matos, Vernon Butler, and Devin Funchess. Glad we have Abdullah now. I wanted him in the draft as a compliment on offense and special teams.

David NewtonESPN Staff Writer

Matt Rhule hasn't called out Cam Newton often since the QB returned, but he did on the fourth-and-1 incompletion from midfield with 2:05 left in the first quarter Sunday. "It's a zone-read play. It shouldn't be thrown. There's a bubble in there in case an unblocked blitzer comes. To my point, we had that guy blocked. That's just an error by the quarterback. It should be handoff, first down, or he pulls the ball. Only one guy over there. Just poor execution.''

You didn’t read my post, did you. I said a “new staff” and a new QB and let Sam, who we guaranteed salary to already, get killed behind the OL.

The biggest issue is all 3. We want to excuse Cam but he’s not the answer. The last 3 games his accuracy is well under 50%. An OL isn’t hard to build if you try. KC had their OL in shambles with injuries at the SB. They’ve rebuilt with 3 rookies (on sat out 2020) and a FA trade. One year. I’ve personally given out my pre-draft/during draft opinions on OLs the past 3 drafts and would have had a much better OL right now. Our two GMs barely lifted a finger to rebuild the OL and trusted two awful FAs that have bounced around 5 or 6 teams.

If we have a chance at someone we think can be that QB, take them and spend every day 3 pick on OL like we should have done (2 of 11 picks, one a 6th when we needed 4 OL is criminal) this year. If not, take the best OL available or trade down to get multiple solid OL.

I guess you didn’t read my point, if the team is in shambles it’s going to be hard to evaluate anyone on the field, you are just reading stats with no context, there’s been a lot of drops on this team in general regardless of qb, there’s no need In drafting a qb if the second most important unit isn’t fixed, I for once in panthers history would like to focus on the oline then try and get a qb. Trying to evaluate Cam let alone any qb with this product on the field is disingenuous. New staff shouldn’t be handcuff with darnold, but if they are it’s smart to bring Cam back for competition, he’s performing better than darnold with less, it’s a moot point until Rhule is fired and serious investments are made on the oline

Good point. I’m just trying to think outside the box, which, considering I was never in the box, football-wise, is pretty clear in my naive post.

SMH, Cam isn’t the same guy. I know the OL and coaching suck, but Cam’s not the answer IMHO. Heck, I don’t feel the love for Fitt either considering the results and the obvious OL improvements we ignored.

How much do you want to pay Cam next year? I mean at some point we need our future. Yes, sure he was under duress when he came up way short on DJ being wide open. Could he have thrown it earlier? Wouldn’t good shoulder Cam been able to still make that throw under duress? I don’t see the point in prolonging the same crap we’ve done the past two years. It feels like we are worse than last year and our OL is further from being fixed, coaching looks worse and our QB position is nowhere. You are suggesting we give Cam a chance? Why? If Rhule’s still here what good is it? If we’ve got a new coach, why do we want yet another bridge year? I see one valid point to sacrificing Sam in 2022 while we fix the OL. He’s already guaranteed money because we were stupid. I see no point to sacrificing Cam and wasting more cap space. God forbid we fix the OL and Sam doesn’t look putrid, we might be able to get a pick like we did with Teddy.

I was excited when Cam came back. He’s not the same guy we loved before and we need to burn this poo down like we should have in 2020 instead of spending $100M in cap and trading away picks and feeling like we are worse off going into 2022 than we were 2 years ago.

y’all keep saying he’s not the same guy, that’s completely fine I don’t need and we shouldn’t need a one man army to carry a team, that’s never been the recipe for success.

Cam can’t make a throw while two defenders barrel right into him isn’t a indication of him being washed idk where that logic is coming from.

if Rhule is here it doesn’t matter who’s a qb, we’ve seen this, and let’s not act like cam is going to command a hefty salary. Another season with Sam starting is letting this fan base and team know we aren’t competing, I haven’t even mentioned Sam’s injury history.

You are suggesting sacrificing a season for the greater good of what exactly ?

The difference between being a HOF and being great.  10 Sacks is GREAT but he could be so much better than he is if he actually learned how to finish up on plays.  Get it?  good

Patience my friend he still a baby in terms of NFL downs everything ain’t microwave . HOF status takes work up and down . He ain’t perfect I’ll be fool to argue that but to want perfection is also foolish

    • I'm not saying he should be working in the NFL. He did deserve some criticism as DC there. But Kyle Shanahan certainly did use him as a convenient scapegoat. Now there is no one left to throw under the bus. Anyways he could find his way back to the league in some capacity who knows. But he's old school and in the NFL you either adjust or you get left behind. All the same no hard feelings toward him he's a good guy.
    • he has barely suited up for 50% of our games.  It matters pending how much of our cap and resources go that way.  If he cost in the ballpark of a Surtain? No thank you.  Let someone else  And as far we know what happens when we let talent walk away or trade them…..that’s a mixed bag.   should we of paid Norman, Bradberry at CB? They probably had earned the right to be called better than Horn at that moment of the decision.  Do we regret that? Do we regret Star walking? Can take it back to Spoon.  Flip side is probably Peppers.
    • We need to get better in the redzone. And yes that is an issue that involves all the moving parts. Oline receivers QB and playcalling. But Bryce himself has to lead the charge on that or surely we could face another blowout in one of these upcoming games. Every team no matter how good they are is going to face an opponent that imposes their will on them and requires the same in response. Those are the games where we have got to capitalize on drives. Honestly I get the sense that the Chiefs on some level overlooked us.  So while I am pleased we were as competitive as we were it certainly remains to be seen if this was the beginning for something new or just an anomaly. I think that's a perfectly fair take at this juncture.
