Why not a mobile QB?

Everyone seems to hate the Vick, The Golden Calf of Bristol, ect qb threads. My question is why not? WOuldnt our offensive scheme work great with a mobile QB? I mean, our current qb cant run or throw. I think either we get a stud qb and change schemes or get someone that causes more of a threat than just to hand off the ball.

I have to say the way they defend us a mobile QB would really hurt the opposing team. Vick has kept his nose clean this past season. I am not sure he is up to being #1 again but for the right amount of money he could be had.

The Golden Calf of Bristol has got to have the arm for it. If he is a strong armed QB and is accurate. It would be interesting. You know he would be there in the 2nd round too.

Go Panthers.

Mobile Qb's are great as long as they can throw the ball accurately. Vick is not an accurate passer and his ratio of interceptions to passes thrown is nearly as bad as Jake's, and it was worse than Jakes until this year.

I am not convinced that The Golden Calf of Bristol will win in the NFL. To many times, a QB like him looks good in college because the talent surrounding him is so much better than the opposition.

Vick or The Golden Calf of Bristol wouldn't be an upgrade over Jake. Sounds hilarious given how bad Jake's been, but Vick hasn't exactly set the world on fire in Philadelphia either.

Vick was the wildcat formation's biggest victim. His element of surprise died when the wildcat became commonplace. Plus he's around 30 now, he can't depend on those legs forever. His career completion percentage is at around 50% too. That's poor.

As good as The Golden Calf of Bristol is at Florida, Weinke was awesome at Florida State. College success doesn't always equate to pro success.

If we really want a mobile QB we'll draft Armanti Edwards. He's a local player and all the other "top prospects" will be gone. But we won't draft him because he's decent, and we don't draft decent quarterbacks.

    • You talk about keeping the shtshow alive and well in Pantherland just bring in Prime and Shedeur....
    • Elite QBs are made and need a team to work around them or you end up with a Phillip Rivers situation, at best.  Sometimes the QB is just the missing piece, or the QB finds the other factors that lift their game. You couldn't ask for a better example of both of those situations than looking at the Stafford/Goff trade between LA and Detroit. Send either of those two guys to Carolina or Cleveland and they just flop around on the turf near the 35 yard line, game after game. And as to the Texans and Commanders... those are two well coached and well-built teams. Massive turnarounds in each location, a lot of buy in by players and grabbing solid performers where they could. They got their QBs, but they also put them in the right environment. You claim I'm a 1990s football guy, I claim you're basing your evaluation more on Madden and fantasy football.
