How good would we be with a QB???

Two things:

First of all...I am and admitted Jake lover. I think the guy is a great leader..especially late in the game. And I'd love to see him be a great QB. But I know he's not.

Second...I understand that we would have to give up a lot to get a good QB. We would either have to draft one and take a chance that he's not a Ryan Leaf, David Carr, Brady Quinn bust...or we'd have to give up a lot via a trade to get one.

So with that said, I have the question in the subject line. How good would our football team be if we had a top 10 QB? I'm not talking a Peyton, Tom, or Drew. Just a Matt Schaub, Rothlisburger, Matt

Ryan, Eli, Romo, even Kevin Kolb.

Jake is an adequate QB at best. And a disaster at worst. My thoughts are that we are a QB away from being a real championship contender. How far am I off? That seems to be the only piece missing to me. I wouldn't even demand a new coach. I think Fox could make it happen. Just give us a QB. What all do you guys think we are missing?

A little bit of improvement in the secondary. Gamble stinks more times than he shines. A defense with a pass rush would be good, too.

Very true we still need more speed at WR...its looking like D.jackson will be on the PS for nothing because fox will be gone.

We would still have serious problems with our run defense and our special teams. IMO, with a good QB right now, we would be 6-4 or 7-3 and a significant wildcard contender, but not a championship contender until we shore up the run defense. Thats a far more significant need that getting another wide receiver.

We would be above 500 right now, the MIA game would have been over 1st half. Like stated in the other post, another speed receiver, better secondary and a better run D, there is no way MIA should have converted on 3rd and 16 on a run play. Also special teams, a good return man.

What's the point in a QB. Drafting a high round, high pick QB is like sweeping the dirt under the John Fox rug. There's a reason he doesn't draft certain players...he can't develop them. Does anyone on this board actually think that Fox could develop a QB? Look at Matt Moore?

Answer to the question is no, not until we get a new coach.

We wouldn't be SB champs with Fox but we would definitely be a more consistent team that gets to the playoffs.

I beg to differ. We'd be a playoff team, but there are still too many weaknesses on the team outside of the quarterback for this team to challenge for a Super Bowl.
