His name...is Case Keenum..

MAX HALL is the answer, his stats are phenominal. For the 2009 season he has a passer rating of 167.16 to go with his 28 Touchdowns and 3,234 yards. In Max Hall's career at BYU he has 11,039 yards and 89 Touchdowns.

I'm a big Max Hall fan as well. He is a remarkably accurate passer and a very intelligent and mature guy. I really don't understand why his stock has fallen this year. He's more accurate than last year completing 70.3% of his passes, beat Oklahoma, and is doing it without Austin Collie who has proven himself as an NFL caliber talent.

Houston quarterback Case Keenum has submitted his paperwork to be evaluated by the NFL Draft Advisory Committee. "I've always assumed I'm coming back,” said Keenum. “But there's a lot of stuff out there. I'm going to make that decision after the bowl game and see what happens after that. There's still information out there to be heard. We'll cross that bridge when we get to it."

Coming from Houston, Keenum will have a tough time shedding the "system quarterback" label. However, Keenum is an extremely accurate passer; this was true even before coach Kevin Sumlin arrived. The selfish fantasy owner in me hopes Keenum returns for his senior season.

Keenum has a heck of an arm.

Keenum's arm is terrible. He is extremely accurate, not has NO arm strength.

He lives on throwing 4-6 yard screen passes, crossing patterns, etc. Even the big plays for Houston are from 6 WR's on crossing patterns and taking a 6 yd pass for a big play.

Keenum not only won't get drafted, he won't even make it as an UDFA.

You are absolutely right. I saw him in person at the ECU game. His stats of 500 yards going something like 54 for 76 and 5 TDs sounds awesome but as you say most of his passes were for 4 or 5 yards with almost all the yards being YAC. In fact probably 30% were thrown behind the line of scrimmage. He did throw four or five deep passes of which 4 were picked off. I was happy for ECU but frankly disappointed in watching him. With all the hype he got I expected him to be outstanding and he wasn't. He has good size though and can take a hit. I just think he is a system quarterback, nothing more.

Obviously, but when people say it's just the system, and an NFL caliber quarter back recently came from that school and put up worse numbers, I'd say blaming the system is dismissing him too fast.

And where did I say SYSTEM QB? It rides my ass that everytime a QB in college declares for the draft this board lights up like a christmas tree with "DRAFT So-in-so." " WE GOTTA HAVE THIS GUY"

I reserve my judgement until the COMBINES. This is the time is when you find out just how well a QB is. At least physically. I am not all excited about Keenum.

nope u evaluate a qb and prospects on game film. the combine is overrated its nothing but times and numbers that dont mean squat in the nfl. look at golston for the jets he put up god like numbers. same case with is gonna be with some kid this season it never fails.

You are talking about a tweener that many said would do as he did. FAIL. The Jets were stupid not to listen to what many were saying would happen to this guy.

You are correct in a way. At the combines many positions don't show fire, game speed and determination but those are reserved for other positions. As far as the QB goes game tapes show leadership, poise and accuracy. If what you are saying is accurate then Chris Leak should be a Pro Bowler by now. At the QB position, the combines will show how far, how accurate and with what velocity. It will show if he can make all the throws. Once it is determined he can make all the throws then it is up to the GM, coach and his evaluators to decide the leadership and poise qualities.

This guy will fail miserably at the combines. When I watched the C-USA game. 75% of his throws were short passes and the YAC is what got him over 500 yds. Very few Deep passes were made. Those that he did make were floaters.

Say NO to Keenum

I agree with you that the combine is valuable. The combine can be overdone for some but helps players from smaller conferences or guys with potential without the hype to shine. Chris Johnson from ECU never got the hype but had such huge combine numbers that Tennessee took him in the first round. And they got one heck of a player that was originally projected to go in the third round based on game film.

I do agree with those who say as well that you don't just want a workout warrior who puts up good numbers without any game film to back it up. Frankly it makes sense to use both.
