I’m going to get grilled for this…. But we should have hired Josh McDaniels

I mean.....consider who we are comparing him to, though. He's infinitely better than Rhule.

Well what I'm trying to say is not really. The Cowboys are just a really good team. We are not a really good team. Tbh all the choices we had were crap.

I normally roll my eyes at BigKat threads but honestly, I feel the same way right about now. McDaniels was honestly #1 at the top of my list of who I wanted us to hire two years ago. I think he learned a lot from his first go round with Denver and it humbled him greatly.

But whatever, we're stuck with Rhule now.

I have to disagree. Could make the same argument for his stop in GB but he does have only 4 losing seasons in 15 years in the NFL. You can't suck that badly and get those results.

I don't think there is much question he is better than Rhule.

Ya gotta figure that at the very least, he wouldn't have hired a college coaching staff.

Hindsight 20/20, I hope he would have drafted Mac Jones.  I can't stand him after what he did to Burns but the kid can play.

Many huddlers mercilessly ridiculed both him and Justin Herbert before they were drafted. Being wrong is what we do best here apparently.

    • This is factually incorrect. He was a two time Pro Bowler with the Rams and in fact statistically he was better with the Rams in his best season there than he has been with the Lions(could change with this season). Some of his per game stats have creeped into being marginally better with the Lions but there have not been dramatic differences in his play, actually. The biggest reason that McVay and he ended up splitting was McVay didn't think he could win a title with Goff. TBH.....so far he was 100% correct. Stafford almost immediately won them a SB and Goff in a historic run was about 70% of the reason the Lions faltered in the NFC championship game. He missed critical throws all over the first half and throughout the second half that he normally wouldn't. He choked. So, until Goff actually does win a SB...McVay has been right.
    • they have the best defense they've had in a long time...probably the best in the reid/mahommes era.  but i think they are probably the most beatable they've been in a while as well. record doesn't exactly bear that out, but they just don't look as strong on offense as they usually do. lots of reasons for that, like trying to build chemistry with newer receivers, but right now they just aren't as frightening as they typically are. i mean they'll probably win tomorrow, but i don't see them as the strongest team in the AFC right now.
    • He will likely remain unsigned the remainder of this season(barring someone being in a pure QB panic AND making poor decisions) largely due to the cost. I do think he will get multiple offers to be a backup QB and perhaps a couple to potentially start this offseason.  I will continue to beat the same horse over and over.....he should go to a successful team with an established starter. If I were him, go to somewhere like SF, LAR, etc. Somewhere with a successful QB coach and brilliant offensive mind and ALSO a set situation at QB. Ride the pine and adjust for a year or two. Chill and be around better culture. I would suggest the same for Bryce but he will be limited to wherever we can trade him.
