Drew brees is not a good example.

ok. They made the playoffs and Brees arm wasn’t the same along with his other health issues. Cams coming in with 7 games left in the season.

I don’t know what you’re trying to do here. Cam is the best option at qb on the roster despite the overblown “he can’t throw” anymore when he very obviously still can. Again, we just need him to be effective, be a leader and distribute the ball and make plays with his legs. The defense is the strongest part of our team. We don’t need 2015 cam or Superman behind center.

2 qb system works great. Yall are only saying it doesnt because yall are so dedicated to not LIKING PJ walker. I'll take it a step further, yall are afraid that if yall have to see PJ walker for longer than 10 min, yall will end up having to respect him as a player. That's so crazy to me, but that's what I think.

Also, cams arm is shot. His shoulder is more of a chronic issue, which is why that throw to DJ moore was short. Yes, they do need PJ walker.

Two QB systems are so great that nobody really ever runs it in the NFL. You need drafting differences in style of play. Brees can’t do what Hill could. Cam can do everything PJ can.

Nobody does cause most coaches are scared to go against the grain. They would rather lose with a starter they don't believe in, than give the backup a fair  shot.  Everything is so status quo it's annoying.

Coaches want to win, period.

Every single player in the NFL will tell you the best way to get better is consistent reps. If we are being realistic and not looking through rose-tinted glasses at the offense because we won last week PJ Walker put the ball in harms way multiple times last week and we got lucky where they dropped two INTs and only caught one. Cam was a cool story but the truth is we can likely score from where he scored as long as CMC is in the game.

Cam needs full reps. That's why he got them this week. Because he can't learn the offense when PJ takes away from his reps. Likewise, PJ isn't going to improve running with the second team all the time. If you only have Cam work in the and-short situations then you are screwed in Walker gets hurt. I think most people of sound mind understand Cam Newton is still a far superior QB and leader than PJ Walker. Cam should be getting 90+% of first team reps and it should be of the entire offense.

Nobody really runs a two QB system and there is a reason for that. PJ has had literally one good showing in his entire career in the NFL. Every appearance has been below league average until this last week. There is very little reason to believe he can continue to keep this going. Mike White looked good in a spot. Josh Johnson as well. PJ should only be in the game if its a blowout or if Cam is hurt.

There is way more cons than pros for running a two QB "system" with one of those QBs being PJ Walker. Everything PJ can do, Cam can do. So by having to practice for Cam Newton you are practicing for Cam and PJ anyway.

No one is saying PJ should start over Cam or be the long term starter. Lets see how they each play. Cam wil start and if he does great then we will only see PJ if Cam doesnt have enough down to keep things moving. But if Csm struggles then why wouldn't we see PJ who poses different skills and runs the short passing game pretty well. There are plays in there for both. Lets see who does what. By using them both we make defenses account for 2 different coverages, man for PJ and more zone for Cam because of his running ability. Platooning could be great for Cam. You actually do gain a lot watching someone else run the offense and then get your chance the next series. Cam is the vet leader and brings some energy that PJ cant. He will get all the chances to play and if he plays well then he will stay in.  But no he shouldnt keep getting reps if he is struggling and playing poorly. Unless PJ plays worse when he comes in. You practice during the week and you.perform on Sunday. If you cant perform then someone else gets a crack. That has been true at every position but QB. Maybe that needs  to change. What are people afraid of? PJ will do well? He will do bad and then sit the bench?? Lets see who brings the juice. Cam will be first up.

Saints won with the same system last year. And we just won against the cardinals and we'll win this one. We all want the same thing.

We aren’t the Saints of last year. You don’t need a dual QB system when 1 guy can do the job of both. We are big upping PJ after one okay game? He still turned the ball over. People thought Teddy was good for a few weeks. Same with Kyle Allen. PJ is too prone to turnovers still to make him a starter in the NFL or somebody who gets the bulk of the reps.

Nobody is scared of PJ doing well. He has done “well” by league average definition in just one appearance.

    • The bottom lines to me are that a) we played well enough to beat the best team in the league and b) Bryce Young is growing into a bridge QB role (his ceiling) for us. As much as I don't want BY around after the season, it seems DC can still build the O with a game manager at QB for now. Best case scanario, we can build the D through the draft this year and take a QB we have conviction outside the 1st this or next draft. If BY keeps improving, we are going to win a couple more games this year.
    • Bryce has been a completely different QB since coming back. That started in Denver where it was obviously he was playing a lot more loose and willing to push the ball downfield  Bryce continues to build off of the previous weeks performance and that’s what you want to see Bryce has been making some real good anticipation throws. Reading defenses well. Pushing the ball downfield (7 throws of 20+ air yards yesterday. 8 if you want to include PI to Thielen). The deep ball accuracy has been there. Some of Young’s best throws yesterday were incompletions. Sideline balls to XL and Moore both should’ve been caught. RZ dot to Tremble should’ve been caught. And another RZ ball to Moore that Young gave him a chance at. Bryce is starting to execute Canales offense and yesterday Canales finally opened it up a bit. Canales was to blame for the 126 passing yards in Germany as he played a more conservative game.  The next bit I’m looking for his for Young to be a bit more decisive with running the ball. Start putting that on film and it’ll help open things up a tad
    • This KC team isn't the juggernaut it once was.  How many one score games have they won this season?  How many of those one score wins would probably have been loses if Mahomes wasn't the QB?  Their secondary is vulnerable and it was obvious today.  Grandpa Thielen was able to get open at will all game long. Bryce played well, but thinking this is the exact same KC defense Young was able to move the ball against as last year isn't going to compute.  Last year's KC defense was #2 overall.  They have regressed. I've said it before, Bryce can move the ball before the red zone, but once there, he struggles.  He is not a threat with his legs and the passing windows get much tighter.  He's not turning the ball over, so that is a great place to start and build upon.  I still question much better he can get.  Beyond a game manager?  I highly doubt it.
