This article from the Athletic, written by the Washington writer,  talks about the Riveras relationship with Charlotte, their tremendous charity work, the things..and often very thoughtful things that he did for people.  Ron and Stephanie are very good people.

One of the most touching moments for Moore[Humane Society] was the day the shelter received a donation from Washington Football Team owner Dan Snyder.

“It showed how much our organization meant to them,” she said. “This was after they went to Washington. Dan Snyder actually made a donation to our capital campaign because of how much Ron loved this organization.”

“I’m like, ‘What? OK, this is amazing!’ But yeah, who does that?” Stucker said. “They just knew how important his community work was to him that they wanted to support him even on his transition, you know? And it was — that was just the coolest.”

The Riveras, Stucker said, left the Charlotte area better than they found it, and their impact is still felt in the community. For instance, the relationship the Riveras built between the Panthers and the Humane Society continues, and it all started with an introduction Stephanie made between the organization and Tepper’s wife, Nicole.

“We are receiving gifts from them, and I’m able to email Nicole and ask her for some help with certain things,” Stucker said. “And she responds and they support us. I think we would never have that opportunity if it wasn’t for Stephanie. Stephanie brought her to the shelter, wanted to give her a tour, wanted her to see what was so meaningful to her and Ron and to share that. It’s almost like she planted the seed for the next generation that was coming behind her.”

Lol this.

A lot of people here can't separate the player from the person.

You'd hope he'll get a good ovation from the crowd on Sunday before the game if they announce him, which I'd hope they will out of respect for his dedication to the team and community over the years.  Solid man and role model who clearly impacted many lives on and off the field.

      It's not good to leave any netminder having a bad night out there, not fair to them, not fair to the skaters still trying to win the game It's classless and shows a lack of respect, for them has a player and a human being, you aren't gaining anything, you aren't learning anything , except they just don't have it that night. I don't care if it's a multiple Vezina Winner, or a 3rd string back up, don't leave them out there to shame themselves and the rest of the team  What if Lavi left Cam in when he didn't have it, and Rod had to skate knowing he essentially has an open net at his end of the ice, would he enjoy that ?

      If they draft Stewart at 8th, I will ask @Mr. Scot for a list of GMs and might as well ask for HC too.....

      I can't for the life of me figure out what people are seeing in Stewart on tape. If he can't just simply run around or through the OL in front of him, he's cooked. I don't see any actual moves. If he doesn't win on sheet athleticism at the point of contact he's nullified. I don't know if I've ever seen him actually beat a block once engaged. Then, even if he just blasts right past or through the OL and has a clean path to the ball it's like he's blind. He can't find the ball. He's like a bottle rocket. Yeah, he takes off fast but he's just going to go fast in a general direction. There will be no course correction. I watched quite a bit on him just because of his perceived draft evaluation and because of the wild discrepancy between measurables and production. Watch him play and it all makes since. He's a god tier physical specimen who just happens to be playing football. I don't see a football player. People need to stop falling in love with the potential and start realizing why the potential isn't translating.
