Third system in three years for Cam.

Running heavy read option doesn’t mean cam gets hit. There are 3 options, handoff to the rb, throw or run the qb. Cam doesn’t have to take hits doing that. He just has to run enough to stress the defense to account for it. Pj was running some read option in the cardinals game. It’s just an extra element defenses have to account for. Pulls the linebackers in. This is what I’m expecting at first until cam gets the rust off more. We need to be a running team. That should be our identity on offense imo with the defense that we have. And whatever that poster above me said we can absolutely run play action and bootlegs with this line if we are running the ball well.

This 100%.

Patriots haven’t run a true Erhart offense in years, and last year with Cam they rarely threw deep.

Cam’s best offense has always been fast pace, no huddle which Rivera hated.

Yes they still run a modified  EP system put in by Charlie Weiss and continued by Josh McDaniel.

What do you think they run??

Truth be told a lot of NFL playbooks are similar. The hard part is verbiage.

While the NFL is a copycat league and all playbooks have some kind of RPO for example they are constructed or schemed usually  under a larger scheme with basic core concepts.  Like WCO used short timing passes thrown to a spot often as the receiver is making a cut and uses yac to gain yards. Verbiage is an issue but with wristbands it isnt that tough although we wont have Greg Olsen to help Cam get it right.

With Cam being back there defenses can no longer just all out rush at the QB. They got to have a spy for the QB and the dlinemen have got to stay in there rush lanes. If Cam sees an open lane he'll take it instead of just panic like Sam was doing and get an intentional grounding call. This will also create better coverages for our receivers and CMC to take advantage of.

Can you imagine trying to throw deep consistently with Damiere Byrd and N'keal Harry as your outside WRs? Yikes

These kinds of great posts always get looked over, but I see you! Their offense is a Lamborghini this year with the weapons compared to the old beat up rusted out Datsun they drove last year.

Actually blitzing Cam is what most teams do and he struggles against pressure.

at this stage in his career and for all the faults of his we know, and the oline, stick with the short and intermediate passes and feed CMC

at the same time, don’t restrict cam, we have all see Rivera do it time and time again the beginning of the season trying to use cam the wrong way only to take off the leash out of desperation later on and wouldn’t you know it, cam thrived

you also keep running cam, it’s what makes him special and what makes him more than an average qb

Every time Shula would let Cam run the no huddle we would immediately start carving up teams, I feel like mostly with quick slants/RPO's, etc and the occasional deep shot

Sam had so many open holes for 5-10 yard gains when he as scrambling in circles waiting for a comeback route whew. That was rough to watch

That’s an article from 2020 and and mentions Aaron Hernandez and Welker…..

I can’t even exactly pinpoint what type of offense they ran last year. But it was terrible and super conservative. They were last in the nfl in passes over 30 yards, last in red zone attempts, everything was underneath

All these folks wanting to see Cam run a bunch of read option have clearly forgotten that this is a QB who hasn't had a fully healthy season since 2015.  I think you run just enough read option to force defenses to account for it, but not enough that Cam is getting hit.  You need to bubble wrap the only QB on your roster who has won significant games in the NFL, not subject him to a bunch of hits that other players could take.

You don't scheme to Cam, you scheme to your team.  We have good players in the skill positions and less talent in the line.  This is not the 2015 team where Cam has to carry us.  Cam just has to get us in the right play and distribute the ball to a very talented supporting cast.

I did notice on many of his carries that he slid or took the cautious route as opposed to spinning, juking, or trucking.

So you dont know what they ran but it wasnt Erhart Perkins. Wow do you understand how stupid that sounds.  Clearly you dont understand much about schemes as seem to be confusing play calling and scheme which are not the same. Why not stick to what you know.

    • Rhule was GM for 2020 and 2021/final say/total control/______/head cheese   Then afters years of trying to find a QB, trepper issued a order to get one at all cost. Even without BY fumble and after the rhule driving the draft/FAs(member erving and elf lollolols) fittererererer was no improvement.
    • Let him play when he is 100% healthy. Still room to learn and improve.
