Realistic Options at QB

I was watching the Colts/Ravens game today and started thinking about Jake. Obviously Peyton is 10x the QB Jake is, we all know that. But when I saw how effortlessly Manning throws the ball to his WRs, and how effortlessly they get open, I began to feel real sorry for Steve Smith. Having Jake as his QB will cost him a shot at the Hall of Fame. But this has been talked about before on here.

So I went deeper in thought and it came to me that Jake hasn't only ruined Smith, but he's ruined each and every one of us. During his time here we've had some very solid teams as a whole. We've been in the Playoffs three times. But I can't help but wonder how much dominace we would've had with a better QB all this time. In the not too distant future we will be rebuilding. Yes, we'll be good again one day, but the cold hard fact is Jake is hurting this team dearly. He's simply average, and along with a conservative game plan, we can't even put back-to-back wins as an organization and that really bums me out.

The Colts have now won 19 straight regular season games (I think that's the correct stat), and since *insert date*, the Patriots are 67-1 when leading at the half (I think I read that right too). It just kills me to know we have Steve Smith, Double Trouble, have had great defenses in Jake's time here...and all it's brought us is three Playoff runs. Sure, other teams can't even say that, but they haven't had all the pieces like we have had. It's not being spoiled at all. Colts fans, Pats fans, and Steeler fans are being spoiled. We're being robbed.

I like Jake as a person, and love his firey spirit...but damn...what could have been.

Jake has lost the touch on his throws. He's never had the prototypical mechanics a QB should have. But he made up for it with touch, moxie, and leadership. Mentally I think his game is their, its the arm that's gone. Obviously his peripheral vision sucks and he doesn't see open targets but its also evident from the ATL game that Jake does better with more control of the offense. But even then we saw that he could not make the throws down field.

Jake is definitly not very good anymore. Let us not forget though that at one time the guy had one of the top 3 post-season QB ratings of all time. Until the Seatle game where we had to put a uniform on Dan Henning to play RB for us.

Matt Moore = Derek Anderson.

A QB who could probably come in and play decent enough with a dumbed down passing attack and an emphasis on running the ball. Probably win a few games the rest of the way, lose to the Vikings and Pats, but thats ok because we were going to lose those anyways. Fan base is all excited because some crap QB beat 3 crap teams, next year the team starts him full time and with some film footage and having to play actually decent teams the dude inplodes.

So then we are stuck with 2 shitty seasons, having to find another QB plus we are now stuck with the big money contracts of 2 shitty QB's. Delhomme and Moore.

I would rather not go through this. Play out the year draft a QB with our second let McCown hold down the fort for a year or two, he is servicable, and let the new QB take over when he is ready.

We must start the Moore chants at the next home game.

It still won't work. :P

There are only 32 starting QB spots in the NFL. Palmer, Mark Sanchez and Matt Cassel are three, another year and you have to figure Leinart will be the 4th. Not bad for one College I guess, any other Colleges close to that number?????

I can't see Leinart getting better. Already, Sanchez, Cassel, Palmer, etc. are starters already & Leinart isn't. That's not a good sign there.

I would go as far to say Delhomme ruined Smith. Delhomme has been a very good QB in times passed, gone to the play offs several times, put up an amazing performance in his Super Bowl game. I will not discredit Jake of what he's done for this Frachise... Anyone who does that is just speaking with emotion and not with fact.

On a side not, if the man in my sig falls to the 2nd round, get him.

Ok i may be biased here, but i strongly hope Carolina would somehow be able to draft Sam Bradford. With the injury this year there is a chance he could fall fairly far in the draft. However i have watched him in person for his entire career. The kid is definitely a NFL QB. Great pocket passer who has outstanding vision and a very accurate arm.

For those of you that think The Golden Calf of Bristol is the answer have you watched him throw the ball? His release in amazingly slow, sure he's tough but his style of play will not cut it in the NFL. I think it would be a huge mistake drafting him unless you wanted to make a TE out of him or something.

As for the present, i say give Matt Moore a chance, even in his good games Jake hasn't been anything amazing. Give Moore a shot. Whats the worst that can happen we lose another game?
