Realistic Options at QB

Not saying I agree, but I think the Panthers think Josh McCown is their potential new QB. They traded for him, and he has been the #2. He has experience, he has been a starter, and is the 'typical middle of the road, average at best QB' that they seem to like (see Peete, and see Jake). I've also noticed that since McCown has been on IR, he travels to all the games and is still involved (huddles with coaches & Jake & etc). It will be interesting to see if they re-sign him because his contract is up after this season (as is Matt Moore's).

Regardless of whether or not McCown can do the job is a good questions. What pisses me off, at least for this season, and why Fox/Hurney suck is they PANICKED and stuck him on IR. From what I understand he has fully recovered and would have been available to play weeks ago.

Moore sucks...I would almost rather him not start just b/c I don't want him to give false hope to JR and the others that make decisions.

I feel like a broken record saying that we need to draft a QB. I have been saying it since the season we went 7-9 and then again when we went 8-8. Get a new coach and a new QB to put with the ridiculous talent we have at virtually every other position.

Jesus, will you "experts" who say Moore sucks actually do something to prove that he does? And no, I will not accept things like "he looked bad in preseason" or "so-and-so player says he is not good".

The pure simple fact of the matter is none of you guys know, and neither do I for that matter. No one should judge him until he gets a legitimate chance out there with our starting line and Double Trouble.

Have you read anything from anybody other than a message board poster to indicate that Moore is our best option? The only known is that a move to Moore is change. That doesn't mean it's for the better. There are several folks making a lot of money who see him in action daily. They know his capabilities.

I never said anything about him being our best option, and yes a move to Moore would be a change. This season is pretty much shot and it wouldn't hurt to see how he performs with our starting unit.

Some players may not practice the best or do the best at film study but IMO he should get a shot so we can evaluate how he does in real game time. I just get irritated at people saying he sucks when he hasn't been given a fair shot.

"We" don't need to evaluate him. He needs to convince the people that do need to evaluate him that he deserves a shot by showing them on the practice field. He obviously hasn't done that which leads people to conclude that he must be a lesser option to Delhomme. In other words, he sucks.

I feel like a broken record saying that we need to draft a QB......

That is because NO ONE IS LISTENING.... The issues with us going 7-9 and 8-8 were not on the QB. Just because he is driving the car doesn't mean he is the cause of engine failure. Jakes issues came AFTER 2007 injury NOT before. Drafting a QB was not a priority. Now maybe but NOT 2-3 years ago.

And who are the people doing the "evaluating"?...exactly

The man was 2-1 in a period where he knew much less of the playbook than he does now. He should have been 3-0 had the refs not giving Dallas the game. Regardless, Moore performed in realtime situations VERY WELL and deserves more than a look on the practice field. If that was a fluke then cut him. Don't you agree it is better to find out now, release him and find other options at QB? Or should we wait until Jake gets injured to find out MOORE isn't the answer? There is a reason we have him listed at #2. Now is the time to allow him to play and show us why.

    • What's wrong with what he wants to do? Going to the wrong organization can ruin your career. Many of you would do the same if you could dor your son's.
    • I think they should just end the drama and tell him he's playing for his next team. Full stop. This week to week "do they, don't they", "will they, won't they" stuff is crazy.  Maybe Shanahan will trade one of their 3rds for him rather than pay Purdy the big dollars--he's certainly on the list of coaches I think would say, "They're just not using him right". Plus Lynch already knows the Panthers' price list. Bryce can head back home to California and Carolina can continue its neverending quest to replace Cam.
