LIS earlier in the thread, learning the playbook isn't quite as difficult as one would think.

Yes, for a rookie, no way they would be able to play this quickly.  But Newton is a 10-year vet.  He's familiar with the vast majority of NFL concepts, formations/alignments, and some verbiage across different playbooks leaguewide are often similar.  Obviously there will be some stuff he doesn't know that would take some time and we'd in some ways need to limit the playbook to an extent, but no reason he couldn't play.

Ultimately I don't think our approach Sunday would be any more or less limited than if PJ Walker was starting.  Likely run-heavy, try and get McCaffrey heavily involved underneath, and call a lot of pass concepts that Cam is most familiar with.

not only that, he can read the defenses like a 10-year should be able to. That is another missing factor with our current lineup.

Lol Cam was never elite either.

You people are ridiculous.

you are nuts.  He wasn’t elite in the manner Tom Brady is elite because their games are different.   But that doesn’t mean Cam wasn’t elite lol

Must admit I missed Cam even with all his oddities. That 2015 year was magical and he really gave a spark to this franchise. Hope they sign him and give him a chance.

He has experience behind our sh%tty Olines. He was great for the community in many ways. Make it happen Tepper.

League MVPs aren't elite. Stop it. Hate elsewhere.

We're having party

He was never a top 5 QB.

He was a great Football player for us. One of the best we ever had. But on average he was the 10th best QB in the league.

Elite is top 5 and when he was playing Brady, Breese, Wilson, Rodgers, Roethlisberger, Rivers were all way better.

MVP doesn't mean best QB.
