Why? He’s not getting the job done. It’s a results league.

What is "the job?" A championship?

We're halfway through the second year of a complete rebuild. The "result" a logical person should expect is improvement and setting ourselves up to succeed in the future. We've got a really REALLY good defense. The only reason we're not #1 across the board is because they only get about 3 minutes of rest while our offense goes 3-and-out. And at the end of the day, we have almost equaled last year's win total in half a season. We are by definition improving.

If you ask me, he's getting his "job" done. He doesn't have the pieces needed to be a winning team. So we need to temper our expectations for this year.

He'll get a year 3, and hopefully will have the offensive pieces needed to win us games.

The team is worse than last year. They are worse than last year because of decisions made by Rhule.

It may end up be more expensive to keep Rhule than to fire him.

A one time payoff vs a long slow bleed in revenue due to losing and lack of excitement.

Tepper the hedge fund manager surely sees this very plainly.

We're 4-5 year 2 into a complete rebuild with a fantastic defence (that Rhule [and Snow] have build from scratch).

We have weapons on O, we need an OLine.

The lack of patience from this awful fanbase is hilarious.

I agree. However I feel we need a much more experienced OC. Keeping Brady would be a huge disappointment. Hopefully he takes a college job and it takes care of itself.

it's the NFL.  You don't get long.

Every HC we have had got us into the playoffs by year 3.  Nothing suggests Rhule has us on that track.  The only one who didn't was shown the door.

Every HC we have had has also failed to record back-to-back winning seasons.

He is not going to get fired. That would be a knee jerk reaction. Tepper will go hard after Watson, and most likely will land him.  If Rhule cant win with Watson, then that would be the etching on the gravestone.

The bottom line is that Rhule came in with 90% roster turnover, and turned a bottom of the league defense into an elite unit. Joe Brady had a strong offense last year and was seen as a wunderkind, but as many pundits have said, people have figured out the offense. Tepper knows this, Rhule knows this (as he mentioned three weeks back that joe brady has a lot to work on)...

The argument of "well Rhule hired him" goes in the same vein as John Harbaugh hiring (and firing) Marc Trestman as OC. The bottom line is that this FO thought they could shortcut the process with Sam. It didnt work out, but its a risk they took. Tepper supported it. Now they are going to change course and correct.

Rhule has at least one more year here. Regardless of how we look right now as a team, its still better than what we have seen since Rivera era post Cam injury.

I cant think of a single coach who had a roster turnover of 90% and turn the franchise into a super bowl winning operation within 2 seasons. we are just being impatient.

Refreshing nuanced points and agree with all of them.

I would also add that the handicap of coming into his first year under the strict pandemic restrictions last season should give him at least a half season pass

When Rhule was hired I gave myself the expectation to withhold judgment until well into season 3.

I am still sticking to that time-line and love some things so far & questioning a lot of things as well.

I was optimistic until the Giants game and last week... Brady has to go and Darnold is just broken like David Carr was. Cut the cord and get that O Line bulked up!

Same as this one.

He's got another 5 years to figure that out.

My point was it's a silly standard to hold THIS HC to when I'd consider every other HC we've had a failure.

None of them could build sustained success here (the SB seasons were flashes in the pan) - this guy might and is trending in the right direction to do so.

So he has five years to not win back to back season before you fire him?

What if that is 5 straight losing seasons? Still waiting 5?

Its painfully obvious to anybody even paying attention a little bit that this team is going NOWHERE until we get a bonafide franchise QB.  Whatever route they take to do that, they need to hurry the fug up.  We're going to end up wasting the primes of all of our standout players because the braintrust of this team cannot figure out how to get a decent QB.  I dont care how they do it, either draft a guy, make a trade, or if one comes on the open market, sign them.  But, we're going to be in purgatory until this happens.  It doesn't matter what the rest of the team looks like.  They tried to game the system by getting Sam, and that was an epic fail.  They got too cute, too much hubris, and it jumped up and bit them right in their asses.  Now, we as fans, are all paying for it, and will continue to pay for it until they figure it out.

Clocks ticking, assholes.

What's your definition of a Franchise QB?

Cos I think mine is different to most. Right now there's less than 10 Franchise QBs in the league. Chasing that group leads to drafting bust after bust.

Fix the OLine, find a good starter and build a balanced offence that complements what he does well.

    • What I really learned here is that the Carolina Panthers aren't anywhere near as bad as I initially thought they were earlier this year.  We've got a young and growing offense with some promising parts. But it still needs some tweaks and improvements.  We really still could still use a dominant #1 WR. But Chubba,  Legette, Coker,  and J.Sanders have generally looked decent. Bryce took a big leap after the benching. We can score enough points to keep pace with 2x defending super bowl champions, so offense isn't a huge issue. Main thing that needs improvement is defense. We sorely need a CB 2, and a number of new players at Dline and LB.  We're not quite as bad at edge with Wonnum showing promise.  But we definitely need 1 or 2 more edges Clowney is old.  Run D is probably worse prevailing theme these past couple years. We really need a good young stud or two to pair with Derrick Brown and another LB to pair up with Trevin Wallace. If Morgan and Canales can focus on rebuilding the defense this off-season and possibly going out and getting a #1 WR. This team could easily be somewhere around 7-10 to 10-7 and flirting with playoffs in 1 or 2 seasons. Overall this game has made me feel alot more positive about the direction of the team.
    • With our picks we need pass rush, lb, Safety, a speedster yac wr, o line depth and I still want a mid round qb. We got 9 picks and 8 in the first 5 rounds. If they pull Off another solid draft we be cooking.
    • We had one passing touchdown against the Giants and one passing touchdown against the Chiefs today. Yes a good backup can replicate that. And that is why Andy Dalton in significantly less games has the same number of 30 point outings as Bryce Young. I am on board with you guys about wanting to be hopeful for the future. Today was a good performance to build on especially at home. But let's please keep things in perspective. BTW the Bucs who honestly aren't even that good blew the doors off the Giants today after we went to overtime against them with 17 points. Again. Perspective.
