I'm hearing whispers that Sam Howell broke his collarbone on the final play of the game last night where the OL blocked literally no one. I have to point out the specific play since the OL blocking no one happened on most of the plays last night.

X-rays negative. Howell will keep on Cam'ing this team to competitiveness.

Thought Howell looked really good, Picket is accurate too, but didn't seem to handle pressure as well. Still like Willis, Howell, and Strong the best.

This is what I like about Howell. So many questions have been answered. He checks the physical boxes. Would it be nice if he was taller? Sure. But he has the build. He has the arm. No, he doesn't have Elway's arm but his arm is good even at the NFL level. How does he respond when his team is outmatched? Check. How does he respond when his receivers are dropping balls? Check. How does he respond when his OL can't provide even minimal protection? Check. How does he respond when trailing? Check. Trailing big? Check. In crunch time in close games? Check. When the run game is struggling? Check. When he has to carry the entire offense? Check.

The problem with these type of articles is everyone starts to box score scout, they look yards, TDs, and interceptions.  Then they look at height, weight, and rushing yards to try and get an idea of athleticism.

All of that can be very misleading at the college level, especially the stats.  Tell me who can go through progressions and my NFL level throws.  I don't care about completion percentage so much in a vacuum, how accurate are they at all levels of the field.

Honestly I haven't got a chance to watch much college football this season but i did get to see some of the Pitt/UNC game.  Pickett made some really nice NFL type throws.  With that being said he had all day, would love to see some of his under pressure stats.  I missed the end of the game when UNC came back so I would assume Howell likely did some good stuff.

A few of us might have watched one of the QBs closely all year, but I doubt many people have really watched all 5 of them thoroughly.

Corell is the only one there seems to be a consensus on, everyone else seems to be all over the place.  That could actually work out good for us.

I don't know what people are looking at when they say they don't think Sam Howell isn't at least a mid first round pick. He's mobile and can throw deep, teams are building around QBs like this and a lot of them look good.

And when you consider how every elite QB in the league currently either dropped in the draft due to doubts or had a big question mark surrounding their selection, I don't see how you can be scared of drafting him.

Pickett isn't my favorite prospect at all but I wouldn't criticize a team who drafts him in the first round bc of all this either.

Arod got drafted after Alex Smith. Brady 6th round. Mahomes never played in structure and ppl questioned if he could. Sexual predator had question marks and wasn't drafted in the top ten. Josh Allen simply got good but wasn't accurate in college or his first two years. Justin Herbert looked like crap at Oregon bc he didn't fit their offense at all but got drafted off talent and is basically the second coming or Elway--no one predicted this. Russell Wilson went in the third round. Lamar Jackson is a RB according to smart people on the internet.

I can't see why anyone would be afraid to draft Sam Howell. The fact he might not be drafted in the top ten due to what people feel about the class overall should be looked at as a positive for him.

Strong is the only one who interests me. I like Howell bc he seems like a great competitor. But I feel like he’s reached his ceiling and needs tons of weapons around him to be good.

Willis is too slight. I don’t want a mobile QB who’s going to get knocked around. The reason he’s enticing is bc he’s mobile. But at 6’1” 200 he’s going to get hurt. His stats against legit competition (NCSU, Cuse, VT) are mediocre at best.

I'm a UNC fan and I say hell no to Howell. I watch the Games he's a turnover machine and after having Darnold I've given up on all QB's named Sam period.

It’s hard to tell if his TOs are up because he his trying to give his team a chance when they are outmatched or is it just poor decisions. How were his turnovers the previous years?

    • I want to throw in how much easier it is for a QB to develop and improve with a good oline.  Huge credit to the front office for spending the money on our two guards.  Cade Mays also had a 2nd really good game starting at center.  Love how he has developed and hope he's the real deal. Look at what Stroud is dealing with now in Houston after injuries and problems with their oline.  Strouds accuracy has been greatly affected as it seems like he doesn't trust his protection. Canales is doing a great job developing Bryce.  I think the QB whisperer might be for real. And obviously big props to Bryce.  First round pick that looks horrible in his first year.  Different coaches and systems.  Fans and media are calling him the biggest bust in NFL history and he looked like it in the first two games this year.  Gets benched.  Young man keep his cool and just continued to work and only worry about what he can control.  I hope things continue like this and we end up with a great success story. Bryce Young kept pounding.
    • Outside of Philly (who currently is #3 in pass defense) the rest of our remaining opponents are bottom 1/3 of the League in that regard.  Let's see what Bryce can do versus bad pass Ds.
