MNF - Fields

I didn't have Fields on our draft board because I legit didn't think he would get past the 49ers or Falcons. But I couldn't believe it.........Fields fuggin dropped to us!!!! I was so fuggin excited, I thought FOR SURE Fields was our pick at that point. But lo and behold, the Panthers did typical stupid sh*t and drafted yet another defensive player.

The worst part of all of this is next year's QB draft class is absolutely fuggin terrible (I'm talking 2013 bad). So now we are stuck with Darnold next year, so yet another wasted season. THEN you STILL have to draft your QB a year after, and add on another 2 years for him to get comfortable, and then hope he shows some promise. If not, you are right back into QB purgatory. So basically, we are 2 years away from being 2 years away. That's even if we draft a QB (which this coaching staff has already proven they can't evaluate QBs). We're basically fugged.

Yea, but remember... they went to his Pro Day and they "saw something" that led them to believe that Darnold Duck was the answer at QB.

Hell, we couldve taken Justin Fields OR Mac Jones. They're both already better than Sam. We will remember this year, because its what set this franchise back at least 5 years.

It’s the Seattle Super Bowl route. Get 3-4 elite secondary players and hope you hit on a cheaper QB. We just can’t seem to hit on the QB part!

I feel more like its the Jaguars route. They built a stellar defense and did nothing to upgrade QB position. They would've won a championship with a decent QB. Seattle got Wilson, but everyone felt like he was getting the shaft due to height biases. I firmly believe Pete Carroll takes Justin Fields if he has that pick off a down year, especially with the strong defensive pieces we already had. But with our GM being a product of the Seattle building process, it is very similar. I just think that was such a no brainer. He was such a polished kid, good accuracy, athletic, and experience in big games. How did it go from him and Lawrence battling for number one pick to us passing over him at eight?

If it’s true they “saw something” then we might as well get the firings started. You “saw something” with fields but elected to not see darnolds trash ass tape for the previous 3 years and give up 3 picks and 18 mill 5th year option? Just mind boggling.

You guys kill me, Fields looked like garbage all night and had a big 4th quarter and still lost. This is basically the same poo Sam did vs the Vikings, but he did not suck near as bad early in that game.

Justin Fields is not the answer for us at QB, he never was.

Mac Jones is made to look good with Elite coaching.

Both of them would look like dog poo in our offense.

The Bears possessions before half.

Punt, Punt, INT, Punt, Punt, FG.

This looks very familiar.

We fuged up on Sam but it did not set us back 5 years, we can replace him this offseason if we decide to. The only thing the Sam trade set us back was a few picks in the next draft and some cap room next season, it does not have anything to do with 5 years down the road.

If Darnold, a 4th year player, put up stats like this there would be posters in here wanting him to get an extension.

this dude is a rookie and pushing the ball downfield with a trash oline and mediocre weapons. These takes are gonna get really bad if Justin keeps his current trajectory.

I mean that just isn't true.  @ Steelers on MNF is a tall task.  And the Bears offense pretty signficantly out performed the Steelers by just about every way you can compare offenses.  Pass yards, rush yards, yards per play.  And the more Fields settled into the game the bigger a problem he was for the Steelers.  He had a lot of impressive throws that didn't just occur on the final drive.

I mean, rookie Fields is progressing exactly in the manner you would want him to right now.   That's all it is about with him right now.

I could understand folks running around with Justin juice dribbling down their chins if he had made some great comeback to win. But if the defense didn't score when they did,, it would have been a bigger loss.

I mean, it doesn't really matter who won or loss.  You judge rookie Fields based on the progress he makes as the season goes along.  That's what it's about when you get a rookie like him.   Fields' drive to put them up is probably the most impressive moment any rookie QB has had this season when you nutshell it down and factor everything into it (and just look at indivual rookie moments).

I mean that was big time on MNF.  That's what you want to see in a rookie QB.

and if you knit pick the game you got to do it both ways.  And the refs repeatedly screwed the Bears in big moments.

    • At this rate, maybe he'll be a decent 8-9 QB on his 3rd HC by year 6. Standards are so low around here now. Tepper has done some serious damage to the fan base.
